My favorite myth is The Abduction of Persephone! It explains the seasons, you know.

My dad would tease and say thats how him and my mom were married, then we had to explain it to my mom and she laughed and "agreed." I knew the myth, but I was still a little kid and I imagined my dad just running over, picking up my mom on the college campus, and running off with her. 'course, now my parents are divorced.....
