Random Bits and Pieces

5 posts in this topic.

  1. Every songwiter has them. Tose few lines or that verse that you wrote down one day but haven't been worked on since. Maybe you just didn't like them, or maybe nothing went with it. Either way, we want to see them.

Post your random bits and pieces here so other people can comment on them. Who knows, maybe you'll even get some inspiration.
  2. OK, in my musical, one of the main characters writes a song about a cheating boyfriend. Her boyfriend gets mad, and after the issue seems resolved, she finds out that he is cheating. This is the first verse of the song she performs the night they break up.

    ***

When you went off with that girl,
    I didn’t understand
Why you would throw it all away.
    What made cheating so grand?

If you wanted to hold her,
You should have told me first,
Then I would not have felt so dumb,
    And my heart wouldn’t burst.

    ***

That's all I've come up with now. Once the chorus is in there, I should be able to handle it. The title of the song is You Kept a Piece, which is refering to her heart being broken by him, but she still feels like she's tied down.
  3. Confessions

I'm so sorry to say i didn't make it,
found my heart so i could break it,
i never lied, never faked it,
crashed my car so i could break it.

I'm so sorry for the hollow goodbyes,
watching fires die in your eyes,
we lost everything apart from my lies,
last goodbye to her as she dies.

And now the rain keeps falling down on my head,
my sky is crying 'cos you are dead,
there's an emptiness on the side of this bed,
filling with the words i never said.

I'm so sorry that i couldn't tell you,
    everything that i wanted to,
your the last thing that i wanted to loose,
my everything has always been you.

I got more but it's either in my house, or in my guitar case heh =P

The outline is a boy who looses the girl he loves, as usual hehe
  4. I still love you:

    Your like poison
Your a rash I can't get rid of
    Your like Cancer
    You affect everyone around you
    Your like a fire
    You burn hearts at steak
    Your like a hurricane
And your spinning out of control
There is one more thing I know
    No matter what you do
    mmm...I still love you

This was suppose to be a chorus of a song, but I wrote it down like a year ago and nothing sounds right with it! I try everything and nothing goes! It is still on my mind and I have been working on it for a year now with many great songs in between.
  5. Crooked fingers against steel strings
    Play clumsily at best
    Lay broken on the fretboard
    like spiders at their death
<- written when I broke my finger and couldn't play :|
    ...

Another shallow grave Or another body ditch
    Another poor fellow be saved
    The torture of the Brits

Let he who understands speak now...

    Faces, frozen in agony,
    Last moments of death
    When they lapse into defeat
    And the eyelids close
    And the jaw goes slack,
    And the bodies limp
    Just like that.

    <- regarding An Gorta Mor

    ...

    I once knew a girl
She held the world inside her eyes
    She was the sky
And she brought me down to earth
Though her head was in the clouds
And her feet never quite touched down
She was a reminder of everything I wanted
    a girl to be

    But now she's gone
I don't mean like, she's dating my best friend
I was dealing quite well with that actually
We're not really good friends, you see
    So I was free
    to be angry
    without guilt

    No, she's dead to me
    I mean that literally
Not in a psuedo-pissed off regretful kind of way
She's ten feet down, worms'll be eatin' her away
And who will give the memorial
He put her upon a shelf
    Like a book sent away
After she lost her sense of self.

<- lol my sense of humor is dark.
