What happened to you as you were writing your novel?

12 posts in this topic.

  1. So far, as I have been writing my novel, I:

    Fractured my wrist
    Fainted at basketball tryouts
    Took two writing classes
    Made the school band
    Graduated from grade school
    Lost my voice

There's probably more, but I can't remember. What about you?
  2. Hm...I'll give it a go for the sake of boredom:

    1. Transfered from one college to another
    2. Partied too much; (You can fill in the blanks here..)
    3. Became a boxer
    4. Traveled to the land of Israel
    5. Bought a switchblade by accident
    6. Started up a total of 12 novels and wrecked them all
    7. Became a true believer and devoted follower of music
    8. Got rejected by several girls in the span of six months...

And that's just the nice list. I've got a lot more I wanted to say, but I'm sure a lot of it isn't YWS appropriate...
  3. Well a lot of things happened but the stuff that wasn't really boring was getting in a car accident and going to a writers group.

  5. Stuff happens when you spend years on a single project, I guess. Even in the last six months (when its really been coming together!) I left school, decided to leave home, fainted in an english exam (not cool), turned 18, got a job, gone to a funeral, learned to drive and made up with some people I haven't really spoken to in years.

The question, I think, isn't what's happened, but how it affects what you write. I know the biggest change in my life (becoming a christian about two years ago) had more of an affect on me than anything else.

There are three rules for writing a novel. Unfortunately, no one knows what they are.
