After seven months, I've finally finished Honor!
It clocks in at 454,169 characters, 80,859 words, and 126 pages (Times New Roman, 12 pt. font)!
Writing the end was a different kind of experience. I actually felt kind of emotional. Like I was living through the characters. I thought I would have considerable difficulty pounding out the resolution, but, on the whole, it was OK.
The question, however, is whether or not it's any good?
I suppose I'll find out during the editing process.
Also, it seems like in the last ten pages, my writing style changed a little. A la The Book Thief. Lots of colors, lots of metaphors, lots of similes. The only thing I'm worried about is the last scene. I'm afraid that all the emotion I was feeling kind of poured out onto the page as one giant cliche. At least I have you guys to help me.
So what's next? I've got a neat short story idea I'll probably start pursuing. I'll keep Honor tucked away for a week or two, then whip out the highlighter, and start cutting.
It was really therapeutic to write out.
***To do list ***
1.) Visit Kinkos and print out a copy.
2.) Add in two flashback scenes.
Yay!

I've...kind of finished?
I mean, I guess I did...at least the first part? I don't even know. I feel like it's unfinished, but the problem is that I don't have more ideas that I can expand it with that I don't want to be in book/part two.
I think I would definitely be way more hyper and happy if I had finished. I don't like the way it ended because it just reminds me of a twisted version of The Empire Strikes Back. But I don't know how else to end it at the moment because I don't have any other ideas.
So, yeah. Yay me? o.o
Things to do:
1. Finish printing out the draft, which I'm almost done doing
2. Edit it to death
3. Write down any notes and questions I might have about the story myself
4. At some point, slowly start rewriting. Possibly start outlining for book/part two.
5. At some point, decide whether or not to wait before writing book two and write it for NaNo, or...just go ahead and start writing it. -
Three cheers for AWritersfantasy!!!

Yay! I've finally finished my novel 'In a Besieged City'.
I've edited it to death (wouldn't change barely a word
) spellchecked, grammar checked, spent ages just going through and checking all my dialogue grammar is all right, there are no stray bits of punctuation where it shouldn't be...
I've read through it dozens of time, and my God, some bits in it are just brilliant. I've never been so proud of anything I've written. I did my final read through grinning from ear to ear (and actually crying at the sad bits-does that mean it's good? I hope so.)
I keep reading bits over again and thinking 'OMG, did I really write that? Where did that come from?' (Trying not to sound full of myself here, but it's pretty hard
Do ignore me-I'm still giddy at having it finally polished off and perfect.
)
Final word count is 138000 words.
As far as I'm concerned, nothing else needs doing to it (except it being published
). -
Congratulations!

Great job!
Is a chapter or two posted here?
-Kylan -
A bit of the prologue is posted, but I've changed it a little bit since. Won't post any more though; want to look all proffessional for potential literary agents.

Wow!
When it hits the stores, me wants! -
Hey, Heidi, is this the one about Ethan and Blake?
Sorry, I'm not finished yet - about two more chapters - but I had to congratulate everyone. *starts singing "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow"* -
This morning I woke up at like 7AM after having a very emotional, vivid dream about the ending of my novel after having suffered through a mild writers block. So I automatically went to the computer and typed up the last couple scenes of my novel Star Crossed and I just finished!
I'm ecstatic beyond belief, I actually ventured beyond my room, gathered up everyone, and took them out for ice cream xD I feel like I have all this energy... its an unbelievable feeling! This is my first serious work that I've actually finished writing all the way through ^_^
As of right now, I really love my ending and my beginning. The middle is primarily made up of long dialogue bits and action, probably will be needing a lot of work, but I'm just glad that I've got the story in its entirety written down!
I've been working on this project of mine ever since I joined YWS and exactly 7 months later, I've got 123,943 words that make up 405 pages (size 14 verdana), and 18 chapters total (includes the epilogue and prologue). I've actually got the prologue posted on YWS.
So what next? I've got a couple of little side projects that I want to work on =] And a whole bunch of short story ideas. I'm not going to pick up on Star Crossed again until a month from now. I'm in dire need of some good books to read! I feel as though I haven't read anything in ages!
My gosh, I need to critique more too XD Its really uplifting, to realize that I have all the time in the world to actually do that! ^_^ -
Good job, Audy!!

Well done! *eyes boggle* You can afford to take your family out for movies and ice-cream? How much money do you get?

Brilliant! I hope editing goes well!
As for books to read, pick up Kurt Vonnegut if you haven't already.

Hi everyone! Guess what? *huggles Firebrand and grins* I have an 85,500 word, 135 page novel!!!
I actually pulled an all-nighter to finish the dang thing. I went to bed at 5 a.m. It was absolutely incredible how clear my thoughts were, right up until the epilogue when I got a little stuck because I wanted to leave readers with a very clear sense that Marc was a different person, and that the war isn't over yet. So that was hard. I also feel that the last two - three pages of chapter 19 are a little cheesy, a little anticlimactic after the emotional, fifteen-page battle. But I figure that I can definitely work those kinks out in the editing process. Which will begin as soon as I get back from my road trip with my boyfriend. I figure I deserve to treat myself.
Speaking of my boyfriend, I called him at 4:45 a.m. and woke up his whole house to say, "I WROTE A NOVEL!!" His voice was somewhat blankly confused for a few moments, until finally he was like, "OH MY GOSH MY GIRLFRIEND JUST WROTE THE NEXT BESTSELLER WOOHOO!" To which I rolled my eyes and told him to go back to bed, because he's going to be my editor for the next month while I try to polish Firebrand into something bookstore-worthy.
Seriously, I'm incredibly thankful for all my friends and family. They've supported me so much. My boyfriend is an amazing editor - he's actually talked about being a literary agent, because he has an ear for stories and how to make them better. My other friends have been pestering me for a month now about reading Firebrand when it's finished, assuring me that it's going to be a bestseller. Very farfetched, but their support is incredible and I know I couldn't have done it without them.
Cripes, I sound like I'm on Oprah.
*runs away before more cheese spew from her mouth*
