Most Loved Classics

1. What are your favorite classics and what makes them special to you?

Personally, I love Wuthering Heights, The Three Musketeers, and Anthem. Two of which I have been told I was out of my mind for liking.

WUTHERING HEIGHTS- I loved it because, although the characters have absolutely no redeeming qualities, you have no choice but to be sympathetic to them and attached because they were written so beautifully.

THE THREE MUSKETEERS- I love the adventure and action and the colorful plot. Dumas was really something.

ANTHEM- Took a little patience for me to read even though it is only about ninety pages, because it is so hard to comprehend a society that doesn't even consider things we take for granted. A society with no love. No I. No ego. Beautifully written and compelling, it is fast moving and the style of the narrative very much connects you to the main character, who has no name, rather, a number. It is hard to read because the narrator uses 'we' rather than 'I' for himself as well as he and other people because he lives in an altruistic world.
2. BLACK BEAUTY- I loved this because I absolutely adore horses, and I loved reading from the POV of horses.

HEIDI- I don't know why, there was just something really sweet about this book. I read na abridged version first, and I loved the pictures in it, and I throught Heidi was really cool.
3. THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY - really loved this book and was very disappointed with the movie (the one with Sean Connery in it) hehe

PRIDE AND PREJUDICE - love it love it love it! My favorite Jane Austen work!
4. There are just so many good ones!

I have to agree with ginger, Wuthering Heights was amazing, it was well written and heart felt. Pride and Prejudice was also fantastic.

Contrary to popular opinion, I love Dickens. Especially Tale of Two Cities and Great Expectations.
5. GREAT EXPECTATIONS- Pip (the MC) is so developed and flawed, you really get to see characters grow, which is the moral (for lack of a better word) of the story. I love the way Dickens writes, sometimes he can seem distant from the MC, if you understand that, but his metaphors and descriptions are beautiful.

I also loved pride and prejudice, I actually started Wuthering Heights about ten minutes ago, it's good so far. :)
6. WUTHERING HEIGHTS- This is by far my favourtie classic! It evokes some wierd kind of sympathy because it's so beautifull written and every line carries a great deal of emotion!

PRIDE AND PREJUDICE- I love how uses Jane Austen to approach the concept of inequality between men and women. And as for the romance, an epic love story, that's all i can say!

Jane Eyre- I love the story line of this book and the fact that it doesn't drag! The best part about it is the ending! So unexpected!( I didn't say more because i don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't read it yet!)
7. I'm going to have to agree that Pride and Prejudice is amazing. I'm still reading through it but what i have read so far is amazing :D
8. Tess of The D'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy - an absolutely spectacular read. Makes me cry uncontrollably every time I read it. Fantastic book; you must get a copy.

I also adore Anna Karenina, Wuthering Heights, and Jane Eyre. Oh dear; I don't seem to read anything that isn't gloomy.
9. ANNA KARENINA- I loved it because it was about a brave woman finding what she thought would make her happy. It also has a tragic ending, which I seem to like.

JANE EYRE- One not-so-handsome, flawed, lying, rich man and one plain, clever, honest, poor woman and they fall in love! And their love stands the test of time, even though he lied and she left! And it shows that you don't have to be pretty to have a true love.

HAMLET- I hope this is considered a classic. Again, sad ending, everyone dies and Horatio is left with Fortenbras, but Hamlet has so many good, true lines, and his love for Ophelia is pure. And he pretends to be mad so that everyone thinks he just cracking.
10. Mine is definitely Gone With the Wind
In my opinion (and my aunts') Gone With the Wind is the greatest of all time, all 1037 pages of it are AMAZING!
11. Catcher in the Rye: Why does no one agree?
Old man and the sea
The snows of Kilimanjaro (short story)
