Well when I finished reading it I felt like extremely depressed. It scared me so much. Great book though but horrifying. I get what ya mean Gry it made ya feel weird and depressed at the end.

Slaughterhouse 5 - Kurt Vonnegut. I don't care if this is a classic I can't seem to get into this. They style is unique but I just can't get intersted by it :(.
  2. My Antonia by Willa Cather was god awful. Really, it might have been alright, but NOTHING HAPPENED. NOTHING. I also didn't much care for Tess of the D'Urbavilles (i think that's how it is spelled), but that might be because I couldn't get through more than half of it. I love the drawn on scenes with tons of detail found in classics but from the parts I read of this, I feel comfortable in saying the language thoroughly bored me.
  3. I absolutely hated Last of the Mohicans. I may get a lot of people who disagree with me here, but the plot was pointless, and he spent oodles of time describing unimportant things. Alice was quite possibly the worst character of history. In all fairness, there were a few cool action scenes, but unfortunately not enough to make up for the rest of the book.
  4. Well you have to consider the fact that the book had to appeal to the audience in a particular time period. We don't live in the 1800s, so it's sort of hard to relate to some of the books. You just need to pick the right ones. I personally only read classics! I can't even write like a person in the 21st century anymore! My favourtie book is Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. It doesn't have too many descriptions, the language isn't too heavy and the story is just so beautiful it's maddening!

I HATE Lord of The Flies. We have to write analysis essays on it in our literature class! It's SO boring.
  5. I adore James Joyce's Dubliners. We read it as part of our course in school and I was so engrossed in his short stories that I ordered it off amazon just so I could read it again. Very good.

Has anyone read Rebecca? I'm not sure if it's a classic but I enjoyed reading it as well.
  6. I haven't read rebecca but i've watched the movie. Brilliant!! Oh, and yes it is a classic.
  7. The Lord Of The Flies - I absolutely loathed that novel. I had to read it for English lit and it was just...a horrible book. I didn't like the writing style and completely disagreed with the concept - it was just so creepy that those boys lost all sense of civilisation and turned into cannibals, almost. I know it's not implausible but I still find it disturbing - and not in a good way.

To answer before listening—that is folly and shame.
