You've built, or are in the process of building, your world. So, you have to decide on many things that will add to the story, give your characters obstacles to overcome. One of these is climate. So, what climate does your world have? Is it the same throughout? Is it diverse? If so, does the climate of different areas comply with the laws of nature present in our world.
For example, do you have different layers, like Northern Europe is fairly cold and wet, and the further South you go, the warmer and drier it gets, until you hit Africa and the Sahara Desert. From there, it works in reverse, getting colder and wetter the further South you go.
Or, to take an example from Christopher Paolini's Inheritance Trilogy, do you have a fairly temperate climate all over the world, but have a natural abnormality, in this case, the Hadarac Desert, slap bang in the middle.
So, what is your world's climate?

Mine is strange. The fertile lands are in the centre, which is a very nice place. similar to devon for you englanders. This area is surrounded by high mountains on the north and west.
But to the east there is a large expanse of hills and lakes.
Then to the south there is a huge forest that is racked by storms and blizzards during the later year.
Beyond these though are other countries with nicer and more temeperent climates. -
I usually try to keep my climates pretty normal. I go for realism and such, but I don't really know why, being a fantasy writer...*goes off pondering*

I don't know about my climate.

Mine is strange. Big time.
So, it's pretty normal, for a tropical climate. Cool in the north and south, really hot but livable in the center, with a three month drench of rain every summer.
Here's the strange bit: It's only green in some arias. Most of the land is brown with hardly any rivers, while some arias have more water/farmable land then they know what to do with. Eventually it's discovered that magic has been keeping places dry, so that's the driving force of the plot.
Believe it or not, some agents hate a description of the weather. -
My world, as far as the characters know, is simply the sky and the trees and whatever is below the mist below the branches. Nobody has come back from beyond the mist, so nobody really knows.
The treetops are cold (high altitude) with rain and sleet and ususally cloudly. Like a year-round fall, kind of.
The middle-height branches are sort of temperate in climate, and the lowest branches are tropical, with near-constant rainfall.
The world below, perpetually shrouded in mist below the trees, is rocky and damp, with clearer skies the farther it gets from the trees. I haven't really designed the layout of the ground below the trees yet..it has yet to be discovered by my characters.
