Any current (fantasy) writing projects you're working on right now? What's it about? (Try to give a brief summary)Almost all my projects are fantasy. My current one is untitled at the moment. It's about a girl with a rare (and extremely powerful) element magic (she can speak to them, sense them, borderline control them, heal them, ect.) has control over fire (all mages [I call them sages] have that. It's the basic magic) and she can sense people presence and mood. She has to stop a dark sage from enslaving all the elementals and through them, enslaving the people, in a world where women aren't allowed to do anything.
What is/are your favorite aspect(s) of world building? Looking stuff up. Getting ideas for every aspect of the world.
What's the thing you struggle with the most when it comes to world building? Consistency. Sometimes the rule says this, a handful of times it says that. I usually don't put in that many rules until I have the outline done.
What's the best thing you think you're good at when it comes to world building? Looking up the facts. As long as you know where to look then you're fine.
Anything else? The Writer's Complete Fantasy Reference is my favourite (and most often used) writing book. I'm Canadian.

I have two fantasy projects, but I'm saving one for the next NaNo. My first one is for a manga script which is basically a medieval steampunk. In the world everyone has their own personal deity that may grant gifts. The main character, Gash, got a gift from his deity, a God of Death, that actually did more bad than good. So, he must try to find the Realm of Gods and ask the deity to take back the gift.
Another world I have is that of a Fantasy Western, that has elements of the Middle Ages and the American West. Basically, the upper middle class and nobility live in the plains which is mainly based on the typical medieval fantasy setting of castles and villages. But, the lower classes mostly live in a vast desert which is more similar to the American West. Then, there are Lawbringers who are basically sorceror cowboys that enforce the laws in the desert.
What is/are your favorite aspect(s) of world building? The creation of various cultures, races, and creatures.
What's the thing you struggle with the most when it comes to world building? Names, I'm terrible at giving places and people names to the point I used those terrible name generators.
What's the best thing you think you're good at when it comes to world building? I'm not really sure what I'm best at, though I might say the creation of religious and cultural aspects.

[*b]Favorite (fantasy) books/authors:[/b] JK Rowling, Dan Brown, Dante Alighieri (I think I just misspelled his name O__O ) ... and even if I get haters for this, *sighs and mutters* Stephenie Meyer...
[*b]Any current (fantasy) writing projects you're working on right now? What's it about? (Try to give a brief summary)[/b] Yes! The name's "The Gifted", it's a sci-fi story that's set in the future and it is about a group of teens who dare to challenge the Machiavellian yet utopian system they live in. They are expelled off to the Earth (yes, you guessed right, they live in space.) and meet with the "natives". Upon doing this they discover how much harm they have done to both their homeland and human nature, now they must find a way to go back to their home and reveal the truth.

Hi, I'm iluvtowrite! My favorite books are the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling, who's also my favorite author. (I love lots of other books/authors too, but I won't go into the list.) I'm in the middle of writing a novel, but I'm mum on the details right now because I'm editing like crazy!
The world building is something I sometimes have a bit of trouble with (making it seem real) and always something I notice and admire in good authors. I'm working on making my world seem more realistic now that I'm editing - and I'm really wishing I'd had a stronger plot mapped out BEFORE starting the writing. (That's a lesson to anybody planning to write a novel!)
Can't wait to meet you all!

Name: Lauren
Any nicknames we can call you by: Nah, just Lauren
Age: 17 (almost 18)
Favorite (fantasy) books/authors: I actually don't read much fantasy (but I write it...yeah I'm strange). But I enjoyed the Harry Potter series.
Any current (fantasy) writing projects you're working on right now? What's it about? (Try to give a brief summary) Yup
Eventide. It's about a young Icarthian woman who is taken from her home country to prepare to stand against a dark force that may or may not actually exist.
What is/are your favorite aspect(s) of world building? Just everything! I've loved creating the world for Eventide.
What's the thing you struggle with the most when it comes to world building? Probably government or religion
What's the best thing you think you're good at when it comes to world building? Cultures. Mostly because it's just fun.

Name: Garrett
Any nicknames we can call you by: Grant, Blay, 'That One Crazy Kid'
Age: 14, though I don't act my age. I either act like a too-strict adult or a really childish...child.
Favorite (fantasy) books/authors: Orson Scott Card, anyone who writes Star Wars books
Any current (fantasy) writing projects you're working on right now? What's it about? (Try to give a brief summary) Uh...I don't really know if it's 'fantasy', but I have a novel I'm working on - Shattered Memories. It's basically about a fur (golden retriever to be specific) name Grant who slowly figures out that he's not really who he thinks he is, and a series of events start to tear his life apart. Half the reason I still work on this story, though, is Grant's older brother Maddox - he's basically me: immature and girl-crazy, but really knows how to buckle down when necessary, which to him isn't too often.
What is/are your favorite aspect(s) of world building? Same reason I write: it is all mine! Creating something brand-new, with new ideas and places and people that no one has every even dreamt of, is kind of a mind-blower when you really think about it.
What's the thing you struggle with the most when it comes to world building? Trying not to follow cliches or copy other writer's ideas.
What's the best thing you think you're good at when it comes to world building? Well, not to toot my own horn, but pretty much everything
I'm not perfect at any one aspect, but I'm really good at all of 'em put together.
Anything else? If you need me to draw you a map (hand-drawn or computer-made) for your world, go ahead and send me a PM. They're far from perfect, but it can help with your writing, or add an extra touch to your posted story.
