I actually wanted to learn French. I did learn some in elementary school but don't remember much.

I did take a little Greek last year (long story) but I didn't learn anything because the class was mainly 7-9-year-olds and the book was intended for 6-year-olds.

I'd like to learn more languages some day.

  10. no, it's what came before that! I think it was spoken around ? 1000 years ago, but i'n probably wrong..
  11. It's "Official" name is Anglo-Saxon and was the language of (guess who?) the Anglo-Saxons! It was spoken in England before 1066 when the norman conquest happenend and the language essentially died out.
So 1000 years ago is actually correct! you would be at the tail end of the time when it was spoken...

  14. Well I've tried a little of a lot of languages - French, German and Spanish - but my real love (after English, my native tongue) is Classical Latin. I've just finished a 6-week course and can now conjugate loads of useless verbs and string together daft sentences hehehe. I plan to take that a lot further throughout 2005 and may add Ancient Greek to that as well, if I can. I love old languages. They're so much more logical than English, with our there and their and things. One of the reasons I love Latin is because not only does it sound and look quite beautiful but it is the basis of a lot of other languages (the "Romance" languages) and thereby enables one to read other languages and guess most of the time at the meaning of familiar words, lol (eg. pater, padre, etc). I love tracing the origin of everyday English words. Plus, I have an uncontrollable addiction to anything related to Classical Studies, one of my favourite subjects ;)
  15. sounds a bit like me.. lol latin, i wanted to grab this greek book the other day.. still with i had.

fun fact i hear my evil twin once wrote a story about a hacker who used the name fyshi33k bc there are 33k-ish species of fish and she liked phishing so fyshi-33k made sense but then she got super embarrassed when someone forced her to explain
