Hello everyone! I hope this final day of 2025 is a good one for you, and I'd like to wish you all a Happy New Year!

I thought it might be fun to take the chance to host our own GOTY / Game Awards style of event! To reflect on our favorite games this year, and throw around some titles that we're excited for in 2026!

The games can be anything from Indie to Triple-A, and save for the obvious time-specific questions, it can be a game that's fresh off the plate in 2025, or an older game you just happened to pick up this year! It just has to be new to you, that's all!

    So, that said...

1: What is your personal Game of the Year?

2: If different, what is your favorite game that came out in 2025?

    3: Most innovative?

4: Best community / multiplayer function?

    5: Best soundtrack?

    6: Best design?

    7: Best PC gameplay?

    8: Best console gameplay?

    9: Best remake / remaster / adaptation?

    10: Best game streamer / Let's Player?

11: What genre do you feel had the most hype this year?

12: What games are you most excited for in 2026 (pls list up to three ^^)?
  2. **I meant FIRST Berserker, not Last, confusing it with a very different manga XDD
  3. THIS IS SO FUN!

    Spoiler
1: What is your personal Game of the Year?
    Kingdom Come Deliverance II <3333

2: If different, what is your favorite game that came out in 2025?
    KCD2 came out in 2025! >:]

    3: Most innovative?
Haven't played it yet, but I'm super excited to dive into Split Fiction and will second your vote, Raven!

4: Best community / multiplayer function?
I've had a lot of fun playing REPO with my friend!

    5: Best soundtrack?
The soundtrack for KCD2 filled four of my top five tracks for Spotify Wrapped this year, and its composer was my #1 artist, soooo xD I'm definitely not salty that it wasn't even nominated at the GOTY awards >.< Favorite track here!

    6: Best design?
One of my best artist friends has happy-ranted to me about Silksong enough this year that it earns my vote! xD

    7: Best PC gameplay?
Penelope Pendrick and the Art of Deceit - the point-and-click mystery adventure my friend has been developing for the past 10 years and finally released!

    8: Best console gameplay?
I'll go with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle for the PS5. I do remember Ghost of Tsushima being extra fun on console (bamboo mini game, sword slashing sound effects coming through the controller), and I'm sure Ghost of Yotei is of the same vein, but I have yet to play it or see any gameplay of it!

    9: Best remake / remaster / adaptation?
A boring answer but I'm a sucker for Bethesda: Oblivion Remastered

    10: Best game streamer / Let's Player?
I tend to watch more video game essayists than streamers/let's players. Favorites of those would be Razputin and Any Austin. That being said, the two main actors (mocap, voice acting, and faces) for KCD2 streamed the game this year, and I really enjoyed watching them play, especially Henry's actor Tom McKay who isn't much of a gamer but is suck a lovely guy and is getting so much better!

11: What genre do you feel had the most hype this year?
My subjective answer is open world RPG from hanging out in that side of YouTube a lot xD

12: What games are you most excited for in 2026 (pls list up to three ^^)?
Definitely GTA6 because my fiance is part of the (massive) dev team and he'll finally get to show off all the props he's built!
  4. Ooo, it's cool how in-the-loop you are in the gaming scene Wolfi!! Great picks!! :D
  5. Hello hello! Here's mine!

    Spoiler

1: What is your personal Game of the Year?

Hard choice between a game that did not come out in 2025, but I think Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 EASILY takes this spot. There’s a reason it sweeped the real game awards lol. It’s combat, characters, story, soundtrack…

OMG everything is just amazing. It is one of the most beautiful games I have EVER looked at and I can say that with genuine sincerity. I was stunned by the visuals, music, and insane story. It’s melancholic at times, silly when it wants to be, and just an overall amazing ride. I haven’t actually finished it because of my study abroad trip, but I picked it back up as soon as I returned home. I’m currently endgame right now and can’t wait to see how it ends!

2: If different, what is your favorite game that came out in 2025?

Obviously this doesn’t apply to me, but my other pick was Lost Judgment, a game that came out in 2021. It’s combat is crazy and I enjoyed modding it lol.

    3: Most innovative?

I will TRY to keep myself from gushing over Expedition 33, so I’ll put Sonic Racing Crossworlds here. I consider it innovative because of its twist on racing mechanics. Every race, you go through a portal mid-way and switch tracks entirely. This gimmick really got me back into the racing game scene. I really enjoyed it.

This combined with slick mechanics, a system where you can mod your kit to have certain upgrades/items really assisted in making it feel fresh.

4: Best community / multiplayer function?

I’m not really big on multiplayer games, but I guess Marvel Rivals was really fun to play early on this year. I actually have a decent amount of hours on the board for this one and I really enjoyed playing with all my friends. The community support from the devs seems really great, too!

    5: Best soundtrack?

    CLAIR OBSCUR: EXPEDITION 33

Here are some tracks that have been living rent free in my head.
    • Monoco
    • Gestral Merchant
    • Dualliste
    • Gestral Summer Party
    • Reverence
    • Gestral Market
    • Beneath the Blue Tree
    • We Lost

Since I haven't fully finished the game, I have yet to have seen the final BANGERS. But from what I hear there is MUCH more to come.

    6: Best design?

I think I’ll give this to an indie called Unbeatable.

It has this grindpunk asthetic that goes INSANE. It reminds me of Jet Set Radio, Gachiakuta, that type of stuff. It is a rhythm game that gets really fun despite its simple mechanics. I spent HOURS playing it one night just on the arcade mode. Definitely check it out if you like rhythm games and good music!

    7: Best PC gameplay?

I think I’ll skip these lol since I have fully moved to PC at this point. But everything runs pretty well on my PC.

    8: Best console gameplay?

    N/A.

    9: Best remake / remaster / adaptation?

This is so sad lol. I thought about all the adaptations that came out this year and I hated them ALL. Uhhh…

I guess I played Resident Evil 4 Remake this year! That was pretty peak. It’s gameplay, story, and overall mechanics are amazing and I love to go back and play it’s endless wave mode from time to time!

    10: Best game streamer / Let's Player?

Not EXACTLY a game streamer. But very game adjacent. 8 Bit Drummer drums along to songs live on his youtube. I even like to listen to him while writing or brainstorming since he’s just over there having a good time and drumming.

11: What genre do you feel had the most hype this year?

I think there is a lot of hype this year overall, but the RPG side of things has seemed pretty lively.

12: What games are you most excited for in 2026 (pls list up to three ^^)?

    Oh god so MANY.

My biggest game is a game from Grasshopper Manufacture. I am a big fan of their work and the owner of the studio who directs many of its games. It’s Romeo is a Dead Man! This is gonna be a crazy romp through space after we get killed by an alien and then get revived by our uncle’s super technology. Romeo becomes recruited by the space-time police force. This game takes a lot from it’s seeming predecessor No More Heroes 3, which was held back by COVID struggles. I hope that we get to see the mechanics of that game get used to their extreme here. This studio is known for being the “punk rock” of the game industry. Their stories, gameplay, and characters are off-the-wall but have loads of depth when looking into them.

Obviously GTA 6 is in there. But I’m going to wait a moment to make sure that it is all it’s cracked out to be before buying it. Games confirmed for 2026 that I am excited for are Yakuza Kiwami 3, which remasters the third game in the franchise. Carin, which is a game by an indie studio called The Game Bakers. I’ve played every game they have released and they have never MISSED. Of course, Resident Evil Requiem.

I’m sure there are some titles I’ve missed. But I can’t wait to see what comes out next year!
  6. hihihhiih!!!! heres mine!! c:

Sky: Children of the Light! i haven't played it in a while but i thought it was a good fit for this one!

4: Best community / multiplayer function?
for community i'll say Sky: Children of the Light once more and Twisted Wonderland, everyone on Sky: CotL was super nice and always talking with each other last i played and i haven't been into TWST for super long but everyone seems nice and it seems like a fun place to vibe!

    5: Best soundtrack?
i'm gonna say Twisted Wonderland for this one cause of the little rhythm games part of it, the beats for it sound SUPER GOOD and are just a vibe!

    6: Best design?
Harvestella[/b ] takes this spot, no chance. the art of ALL the characters is just stunning!!!

12: What games are you most excited for in 2026 (pls list up to three ^^)?
    [b]Book 8
of TWST!!! which is supposedly coming out in 2026!! highly awaited GTA 6, i may not play it myself but i will enjoy peoples reactions to it's release!! and lastly Marvel's Wolverine i suppose, it looks cool, i'll watch the gameplays when it comes out!!
  7. Oooo, all great answers, Noah and BunBun!! Very nice!! :D
  8. So I am not really a video-game person. I think I played... like 3 games all year?

And the only one of those that came out in 2025 would be.....

    Digimon Story: Time Stranger

Guess that is my game of the year then? It wasn't bad or anything and I like working toward having my party evolve into the digimon I actually wanted (Veemon, my beloved!)
I didn't finish the game mainly for time reasons so... uhm yeah. (Funny since it's a game about time travel haha)
