I think he was the old man in Legends of Korra. he was brainwashed so badly he just went crazy and decided, hey i think I'll live in a bush and oh there's the Avatar that sounds familiar eh whatever.

I agree with that. For anyone wondering, in the first season of Legend of Korra, when she first arrived at the city, she meets a crazy old man in the park. We don't learn his name, but.. I think it's Jet.

I have to agree that I'm pretty sure Jet died. I know the show left it sort of ambiguous, but the moment when Toph said that he was lying, kind of sealed his fate in my opinion.
Personally, I'm a little sad about Jet's death. I never really liked him, but his character felt important, mostly because of the irony. He lost his parents to the Fire Nation, and wanted to dedicate his life to revenge, but he became so blinded by his grief and anger that he wanted to hurt innocent people for vengeance. In the end , it was the Earth Kingdom that killed him.
I think his story did a good job of showing the ambiguity of right/wrong in war. It reflected how not all people of the Fire Nation are the "bad guys," and not all of the people opposing the Fire Nation (mostly the Earth Kingdom) are truly "good" either. (Sort of similar to Hama's story's message.) -
@Avis, that is something I never put together with Jet... but once again the ATLA writers have outdone themselves
