    Kartiel's Curse Club Update · Apr 2, 2019
After a lot of thought, I've decided that it's best for me to put this novel to rest - at least, as it currently is. I honestly haven’t been enjoying it lately, and I think the solution is starting back at the beginning. I'm going to keep working on this novel, just not in the same form it is now.

My goal is to have the novel be more concise, and to still finish it in roughly the same amount of time - the things that drew out the first 70k words can easily be shortened with one big change. Instead of Cass and Aspen arriving from Earth, they'll always have lived on Seraphinity.

It's been a blast doing #lms with this novel, and I'm sure I'll do it again someday - maybe even next round. But, for now, I need to take a step back and reevaluate what I want out of a novel writing experience.

Thanks for reading through it so far, guys. <3

I've been struggling to enjoy writing this story lately. I love the idea of it, and I love what I have planned. But each chapter I write isn't as fun as they used to be, and I'm not sure if it's because I'm losing interest or because the chapters just aren't turning out the way I wanted them to be. Maybe I'm just not used to writing with other people reading, or maybe I'm not used to the type of feedback I get on YWS instead of on sites that I used to periodically post stories on - like Fanfiction and Ao3.

    I don't know.

I just wish I could enjoy writing this novel more.

It's a shame I can't review just now, but know that I'll be cheering you on from the sidelines as we go into the elimination round! And there's no shame in dropping out if you're feeling miserable and need a break.

I knew that I was going to have trouble writing this update, but I didn't realize how much trouble I was going to have until I actually sat down at the keyboard. It took a lot of work to write Kartiel's Curse [Chapter 18.1] - I had to keep changing where I was typing, and changing my font size/type over on the doc I was using. But the chapter is finally done, and I can get into some fun stuff in the upcoming updates now that this one is out of the way.

I hope you enjoy the new chapter!

After the ending of the last chapter, I'm struggling to write a good transition into what I had planned next. I might throw in another dream memory to follow the one that just happened, or switch perspectives to Kartiel for part of the upcoming chapter.

...I really shouldn't have waited to do this last minute.

After reading a wonderful fanfiction about a character coming out, I've fallen in love with Kartiel and Cass have a conversation about their sexualities further down the line. Him being supportive of her and encouraging her to talk to Aspen about her feelings would just be such a cute scene to write. <3 <3

Kartiel's Curse [Chapter 17.2] is now up! I apologize for the delay in posting it. I left a long author's note at the very start of the chapter, so I'd greatly appreciate you reading it over even if it gets a little boring.

Though the writing quality isn't as good as I've aimed for in the past, I really do like how this chapter touches on Orpheus and Kartiel's familial ties.

    Hopefully you will too!

I finished writing this week's chapter, but I just need to wait until I get home to post it. I'd love to make it a longer one than it currently is. Unfortunately, the rest of this week is incredibly busy for me, so it just makes more sense to cut it off at 1,090 words instead of stressing about cramming more in.

I hope you guys enjoy it when I can finally post it!

Surprise! Kartiel's Curse [Chapter 17.1] is finished and up~ I had some free time during one of my study halls today, so I decided to sit down and try to get some work done on it. I put the finishing touches on it when I got home from school today.

I have been trying to plot out the chapters, but it seems like the novel has a mind of its own - I ended up throwing completely new things in, and the order of events has actually be rearranged since I originally wrote it down. But I think it works much better this way, and something tells me you'll all like the newest addition to the story's lore.
