Finally got around to watching MHA season 5 and...
    Spoiler
I'm wrecked. On one hand more Shinso! Plus Endeavor and Shigaraki development! And I love me some Todoroki family drama especially if its coupled with fluff + Endeavor trying to be a good father. But on the other hand the final episodes left me feeling both oddly satisfied and oddly rubbed the wrong way.
Needless to say, I'm nervous about what season 6 is going to bring...

I was wondering if anyone had any anime recommendations with unique characters, good character development, good character chemistry, and maybe with found family trope?

    yoshikrab replied · Aug 13, 2021

hm that last parameter is pretty hard, so i don't have any perfect anime recommendations for you, well actually I have one recommendation, so I hope you might like it.

I just want to say Kiki's Delivery Service (By Ghibli), which is actually a movie. It's the closest I can think of so far. Great characters and a really cute magical realism setting that I adore. This one you'll probably like. I guess there is a 'found family' trope, but i'm not sure exactly what you want by 'found family trope, so . . . but either way, I think Kiki's Delivery Service is something that you'll like.

saiki kusuo no psi nan is my first recommendation. the characters arent unique per se - theyre plays on classic anime characterizations, such as a chuunibyou and a gyaru - but they all have personality above their stereotypes. the main character, saiki kusuo, is a psychic who HATES his life, abilities and all. he gets into shenanigans every day due to his powers and views them as a curse, but the ironic thing is that he relies on them. his sense of humor is extremely dry. he has excellent character development, from saying that he hates his friends and everything around him, to appreciating the world and caring about his friends. all of the characters except like three have amazing chemistry between each other. its not found family per se? but its a similar feel. its a comedy, with very little action scenes.

mob psycho 100 is another anime that i hardcore recommend. every character is unique and literally everyone that has more than 10 lines receives a LOT of development. the animation is the best ive ever seen. its very found family and the chemistry between everyone is good and realistic (!!) and the characters are round and the writing is the best ive seen ever in an anime, no exaggeration. mob psycho is about a psychic kid named mob who uses his abilities for exorcism, but he wants to live a quiet life and gain his goals through normal means. his master, a fraud named reigen, has taught mob that powers are just like any other talent, and thus mob wants to gain things like anyone else. its very sweet and its my favorite anime hands down. i think that this is the best anime recommendation you can get within your parameters. there are a LOT of action scenes, with one mind blowing animation in each episode (usually a fighting scene, i can think of only two episodes where they werent fights).

To your eternity has all your parameters. It is about an inanimate object that can take on any form and after takibg the form of a dog he remains with the dog's master until he dies. What follows is him taking the form of the master and travels. He is immortal and though has some cool nemesis which can actually harm his immortality.

I've been watching Vinland Saga with my brother and it's... eh. The first two or three episodes were really gripping and well done, but after that it isn't exactly the best anime we've seen. The MC is too much of an angst-ridden teen to even relate with, and we don't get what the show is trying to do; is this a historical drama? Is it an anti-war message they want to convey?

There are also some very irritating timeskips that skim over a lot of potential. I don't like that. Especially when the events of that period are explained through a narrator. ("They fought bravely and pushed back, taking over many villages and avenging their people yada yada" - it's like the narration in the ATLA live action film that just wants to cut over to the juicy bits.)

And the MC, other than being so sulky/angry/grumpy all the time is also a Gary Stu. He can slaughter whole groups of fully trained men despite the fact that he's a CHILD, and defies the laws of physics whenever required. XD

It's still an entertaining show, but far from the best anime out there in my opinion.

"Im standing on one million lives" is not your usual isekai anime with op characters and harem. NO, its not that type of isekai anime. The mc, yotsuya isn't your charming, op isekai mc but more like a sadistic mc who would leave you dead if he deem you to be not useful for the society. The story have nice character development and talks a lot about human nature more than the adventure probably. So yeah there you have it, my anime recommendation. I can't really put things i like about the anime into words so you have to watch it yourself to see what im talking about. Gee my english is soo bad today.
