    Spoiler
    elevator pitch:

In an alternate-earth, everyone has magic, based on a single word, called their Inscription. It manifests in various ways, from familiars to weapons. However, rumor has it that there is a way to change the way it manifests, change how strong it is, even change your Inscription entirely... Through the power of a crystal, that is. When people start messing with said crystal, magic goes on the fritz, causing all sorts of problems. Will our haphazardly put together group of MC's be able to find the root of this crisis?

    main character:

so, there are eight main characters (but also they can be side too. it depends on who's POV is being read from), each having their own motivations to stop this crystal being tampered with. i think i'd like to focus on aleina and michael for this one though. tw/ for gun violence.

Aleina, more than anything, wants to make her parents proud. i plan for her to have this whole thing about how she can never dissapoint them, because, in her eyes, she has some big shoes to fill. her older sister is not only a doctor, but a successful novelist, and a huge philanthropist. of course, over the plot of the book she will try to understand that she doesn't have to be like her sister, that she is her own individual person. (of course, does this mean she gets a happy ending? well...)

Micheal, on the other hand, is still stuck in the past, thinking about when he was 27 and his girlfriend of 5 years (who he was going to propose to) gets stuck in the crossfire in a robbery that went south, and ultimately dies. He is still haunted by the fact that he could not save her. The course of the plot will (hopefully) teach him that you cannot have things forever, and change will ultimately happen. He will try to learn to let go. (and maybe he has to let go of something of his girlfriend. hint hint nudge nudge)

not as sad as like, breton, i guess. or other characters i've written. but these are real things that happen to people!

    side character:

hmm, well, like i said earlier, aleina's sister has a really big impact on her. she's like, the driving force for why aleina is the way she is.

Ereilia Armani, Aleina's older sister, is a renowned doctor, making serval breakthroughs in her time, and a philanthropist, almost saintly. In Aleina's eyes, Ereilia represents what she needs to be, or at least the bare minimum of what she should be. Ereilia is... not the poster child Aleina sees her to be. She's super selfish sometimes, often does the philanthropy just for PR, and was at risk of getting her doctors license revoked. Twice.

    most challenging character

ooh... henry, definitely. i'm still not quite sure about how his inscription will work. i'll have to do a bit of research on speed and tempo.
  3. 1. What does the setting of your novel look like in the fall? Does it even have seasons?
looks like a regular earth fall, beautiful and orange and red.

    2. If your main character existed on Earth in a place that celebrates Halloween, what would they do? (Ex: go trick-or-treating, give out candy, hide in the house with the lights off...)
Michael would definitely stay home with thw lights off and binge a horror marathon or smoething.that or cry.

    4. Choose a character and describe a fall outfit of theirs, or how they would dress up for Halloween.
Aleina, dyring the fall, wears stockings, a coat, a scarf, a knee-high skirt and belt, and boots.

    5. Pick two characters with some kind of relationship (family, partners, enemies) and describe an activity they'd do in the fall.
Liam and Henry get together with their mother and carve pumpkins every year. Henry is the best at it though.

    6. Are there any spooky or suspenseful moments in your novel? Share a line with us if you have one!
"What is this, your gun?" He laughed. "Mine now."

    7. Is there a special food that people in your novel eat or a drink they drink in the fall?
in this town, apple cider is super duper poppularrre
