in which Blues tries to shame herself into reviewing Greek & Czech

2 posts in this topic.

  1. Here's the skinny:

I've been studying Czech on Duolingo since probably some time in 2017 or early 2018? It was still in beta when I started.

I've been studying Koine Greek (the Greek of the New Testament) since August 2019, as an unofficial part of my MA in Theology.

    H o w e v e r...

It's really hard to keep up with either of these (let alone both) during the school year. Czech, I mostly keep reviewing lessons I've already done in the hopes that I won't be too rusty when I'm done with school and can start really learning again. But some days I just review the very first lesson to get my daily Duo in and don't bother reviewing the harder stuff.

Meanwhile, Greek falls almost entirely by the wayside. I've heard there's an app called Gnosis or something where I could review vocab, but I haven't looked into it. I started making myself flashcards in the Tiny Cards app ages ago, but I never finished, and Tiny Cards has since been discontinued. I remember many of the grammar rules, but far from all of them, and my vocabulary is super rusty.

Summer would be the perfect time to review Greek and dive a little deeper into Czech, but I know without a weekly Greek class to keep my accountable, I just won't do it.

So I'm starting this thread for accountability purposes, in the hopes that publicly shaming myself will get me to actually work on both of these.
  2. All the best!

If you don't know it's impossible it's easier to do. And because nobody's done it before, they haven't made up rules to stop anyone doing that again, yet.
