Review Day Cheers

4 posts in this topic.

  1. Hey guys!

A couple of review days ago, it was probably around November actually, I did a motivational roll for Review Day rather than joining one of the teams and it really felt like Review Day went off a lot smoother.

Since this is YWS Cheerleading Squad, I want to share the idea I had going into it and then maybe we can figure out how to do something together for Review Day.

The first thing of note is that I didn't join a team. With so many of us, I don't think that this will be a problem. We can just cheer on our own team. Here's what I did.

    - Created a list of things that gave extra points because it was old [this took a long time]
    - Encouraged teams individually to review certain pieces, like books that had more than one chapter
    - Posted helpful tips in each club about how to review
    - Celebrated with each team when we hit a mile marker for YWS overall (like 200 reviews done)
    - Encouraged teams that were not doing as well to just get 1 more review

All in all, the thing that took the most time was the list. I basically copied all of the old works onto a notepad and then posted that as a list, but it was a lot of them because anything older than one month old was worth extra points.

I also separated it between chapters, short stories, poems, and others so that people knew what type of thing they were clicking.

The thing that I think worked the best was actually cheering people on and challenging them to get to new mile markers for YWS together as a team. Since we can't really say exactly how many reviews a particular team has done individually due to the strangeness of the stats codes, it was useful to just rely on the header count and just encourage everyone equally.

Do you want to do this coming up on Review Day? What do you guys think?
  2. Anyone have thoughts on this?
  3. I'd love to help with this on Review Day! :)
  4. If it worked when you did it on your own last time, I think it's definitely a good idea to get people motivated! Let me know how I can help :) Other than, you know, just being around and prodding people to review stuff on the day-of. Once I get home from work.
