TO YA or NOT TO YA

Do you like YA or do you dislike it, if so, why?

I have a love-hate relationship with YA. Reason being that some YA books are outstanding (the one I most recently read, Dorothy Must Die, was pretty awesome), and some are terrible (see: Twilight). The romancey ones really annoy me, and sadly, more and more YA novels are becoming all about romance—which really serves best as a small subplot and nothing more, in my opinion. Who needs to see a bunch of pathetic, boring teenaged girls lusting after equally boring, bland guys for no apparent reason? Come on, YA writers—not all of us teenaged girls are that irritating!
So I'm only lukewarm currently about YA. Once it starts to move away from dull teenaged romances, I'll probably fall back into love with it. <3
