Advice for New Buddies

3 posts in this topic.

  1. As anyone who has followed a novel before knows, following one takes dedication. If you have any tips for your fellow buddies that'll help keep them from burning out, feel free to post those tidbits of advice in this thread.

Advice #1: Try not to follow more than two novels at a time, at least until you know your own limits.
  2. Take your time while reviewing. If you have to leave the page up overnight and think on it, do it. You don't have to put up a critique immediately after the chapter is up. Within the first week is good, but if you rush it, you're only going to burn yourself out, and your reviews are going to show that. Taking your time helps both yourself and the person you're reviewing.
  3. Don't just review one chapter on its own. Review this chapter in how it progressed the story, how it fit with the characters' personality, if the style is consistent, ect. Each chapter posted should be looked at both as its own segment of the story and as the sum of what's happened. (Keep notes or reread past chapters/reviews if you have to in order to keep those details straight)
