What Is "The YWS Book Club"? Rules and FAQ

1 post in this topic.

  1. The YWS Book Club is a club run by Sakuragirl and SparkOfDoubt. Every month readers will be exposed to either a contemporary or classical work for young adults, and discussion will be launched, with prompting questions. Activities including 'favorite quotes', 'songs that remind you of this book', and much more will also take place in this month.

All normal YWS rules apply. We also ask that you as the readers conduct yourself kindly and appropriately. Everyone's opinion counts, and everyone's opinion should be valued. All discussions pertaining to the books should be thoughtful and insightful.

Why don't we get to choose the books?
After discussing it, the admins have decided that the best way to keep the club going is to have the books already selected. The books have been selected up until next summer, if the club lasts until that point, we will start taking suggestions then. We want this club to do well, and we're afraid that if we don't have the books already planned, the club will slowly fall apart.

Do I have to read every book?
Of course not! If you're too busy this month, or find that you've already read the book we'll be reading and didn't enjoy it, or don't wish to read it again, you can always sit the month out!

Why don't you tell us what books we're reading the next month until the end of the month we're in? Why not just hand us the list?
We like surprises! Plus, the admins work really hard on the extra behind the scenes stuff that you don't see, and we usually don't have it done until the very last minute.
