Hunter Graves Interview Place

  1. A boy, who seemed to be around the age of 12, sat awkwardly in an armchair. He seemed nervous or in the very least uncomfortable. He wore a bright yellow raincoat and a pair of navy blue pants that looked like they belonged to a school uniform. On his right leg the boy had a makeshift cast consisting of a stick and lots of bandages.

"My name's Hunter," He said as if he did not understand the purpose of having this conversation. "My friend told me I needed therapy and this is the closest I am probably going to get."

He paused, swallowed uneasily and continued, "In my world there kind of happen to be soul swallowing monsters, who single-handedly caused the apocalypse."
  2. "That sucks man. Do you want a gumdrop? Oh, also, I had to kill your 'therapist.' They were trying to- never mind. My name is Corbin Sungar. I like your coat."

Corbin looked like a ghost. Everything, from his skin to his hair, was white.

"So.. tell me about your monster problem."
  3. Hunter looked bewildered at the person interviewing him.

"Uh, thanks," He said in confusion "About the coat I mean"

Hunter spent a painfully awkward minute considering what to tell Corbin about his world.

"Well it all started one afternoon when I was in school," Hunter began explaining while picking at his cast. "All of a sudden something had ripped the roof off our school and I found everyone in the building dead, outside the world looked like some cursed apocalyptic video game where the developers took all the Google images under the word "monster" and threw them in a random city. When I ran home I found out that my family was in the same state as my classmates..."

Hunter's hands began shaking, he seemed as if he was about to begin talking about something else but he stopped himself.

"Yeah, that's basically what happened" He muttered.
  4. “Oof. Wow. What happened to your leg? Do you want me to look at it for you?”

Corbin pulled out a first aid kit.

“So… are you the last person alive? No.. you said you had a friend… I’m sorry about your family. Uh, do you fight these monsters?”
  5. "Oh well about my leg, a monster decided it did not want to eat me, so it pinned me to the floor with a rock... while it was busy killing my friend... who told me I needed therapy..."

Hunter sighed looking ever so slightly more disturbed then he was before.

"Anyways, I don't think there is any need to look at it, I put some probably expired rubbing alcohol on it so at least there shouldn't be any infections."

He looked down at the cast which was thickly matted with dirt.

"And about the monsters, most of them are too big to make any contact with, there is a big rock one who has taken a weird interest in me so it's leaving me alive, it's foot is the size of my old house. I mean there isn't really anything I can do about it. I have killed a couple of small ones by choking them with a school bag but destroying them isn't really my main goal."
  6. "To be honest, at this point, I couldn't care less about what those morons do to me"
  7. “Don’t give up, they win if you give up!”

    Corbin looks anxious.
  8. "Uh, thanks."

At that moment Hunter felt a bit more confident about his situation, but he would have never admitted it.
  9. He nodded. “So… is there ANYONE else alive?”

I have lived through much, and now I think I have found what is needed for happiness. A quiet secluded life in the country, with the possibility of being useful to people to whom it is easy to do good... then rest, nature, books, music, love for one's neighbor - such is my idea of happiness.
