I don't think it's said often enough but I'm saying it now: I am proud to be a member of this site and proud of each and every member we have. There is not a more welcoming community anywhere on the world wide web and if there is, I haven't found it yet.

Every now and then I sign up for another writing site, just to test the waters and to check out the competition and the latest I've found actually made me feel very unwelcome. I'm not going to name any names as one bad experience doesn't make a site, but seriously you guys. They made me sad.

So long live YWS and please remember everyone, it's vulnerable when you're a new member, no matter how many other sites you've been on before. And it takes only a minute to go down to the welcome forum and say a big hello to those new people waiting to be a part of our community!

I must concur. Before I found this site, I scavenged the web to just find out most of the sites are filled with narcissistic and pessimistic persona's.

Not here though.

Thank you, thank all of you guys so much for that! Words fall short (or I just don't feel like typing today) for the welcoming atmosphere that breathes live in to this all.

I'm trying really hard to make a sarcastic, pessimistic comment. Oh, but how I failed. :P

Agreed 100%. I joined this site very early on and although it's grown tons and has changed many times, I still feel like it's generally a welcoming and respectful community.

Maybe I should go smiley-bomb some newbies just for old times sake. :P

Not just the friendly community. One of the best parts of coming to YWS from a different site is seeing the difference between "OMG i just luvd this piece sooooooooo much! k33p on wr!t!n i luv it!" and "Your character development is excellent. The subtle differences in the way the characters thoughts are conveyed really shows the effects of your stories events. Though, the secondary characters still seem to exist solely for the aid of the main character." It's even more laughable when the first example is from one of the writing sites that are owned by the big publishing companies.

Amen to this thread!

I can't believe some of the stuff that I found out there on the web. Some of my friends tried online communities andin return got tons of spam, useless reviews and dodgy strangers asking them to chat with them...

YWS is the best community on the web. I am convinced that there is no better anywhere.

And it caters to a variety of tastes. Art, photography, randomosity—try getting all that on another site. Yay YWS!

I remember a while ago thinking about how no one I know where I lived wrote or even really read for fun. There was no one I could share my stories with and get a legitemate review. I wanted to join a community of writers, so I tried to look one up on the web.

That's when I found YWS.

It looked interesting so I joined up. I thank God I did ^u^ This site is totally amazing ^^ I can post my work, read other works (which is as good as reading a book ^u^), I can talk to people who share my same interests, and over all become a better writer ^^

When (haha, if ^^) I ever get published, in the acknowledgements, I'm going to mention all of you guys ^u^

LONG LIVE YWS!!! ^u^

I haven't been on here much lately, which sucks. YWS is amazing. I'm closer to people I know on here than pretty much all of my friends in real life. That says a lot for this website.

Oh, that goes double for me.

I'm so glad I joined this site. It's been an AMAZING milestone in my life. I can write, get reviews that ACTUALLY help me, and I met incredible people that are now the closest people in the world for me. Not to mention that the site is so fun!

...You guys have already said everything I wanted to say, but you can't praise a site like this enough.

I've made wonderful friends here, I'm closer to them than I am to people in real life, we actually get sensible feedback on our writing here, and... well... like I said, everything has already been said. But this place is, in a word, AWESOME.

Oh godess! This thread! Gaah. What, I'd like... be such an awfully awkward writer and like... Geeh. I mean, I guess we're like all born writers but until we find YWS we're just little baby-writers... This is where we grow up!

I mean seriously, the future of famous writers are probably among us right now. Hey guys, promise me when you become awesome and famous. Write your YWS-signature with like size 3 on the bottom of the last page or something like that :=P

Oh hearts. Love this site to bits and pieces and aoow. HEART
