The long awaited National Poetry Writing Month has finally come back around! This year, your local Poetry Crew would like to introduce two new fresh and jammy hashtags: #PCrewPick and #ThePeoplesPick . (They come with their own limited edition badges, too.)
The poetry mods are going to use the PCrewPick hashtag to highlight a different YWSer's NaPo poem every single day of the month! Each poem that gets a shoutout will be put into The PCrewPick Hall of Fame. Then, at the end of the month, everyone whose poem has received a PCrewPick mention will be awarded an exclusive badge. Keep a lookout later today for the first official PCrew Pick!
If you've ever used #PoetryShoutout or #FiresideFridays , ThePeoplesPick isn't much different! Everyone is invited to use this hashtag. Give a shoutout to your favourite NaPo poems - written by YWSers other than yourself - that you read over the course of the month! We encourage you to use this hashtag multiple times throughout the month (daily, even, if you feel like it). You'll be sure to brighten someone's day! ThePeoplesPick also comes along with a snazzy badge of its very own.
For more information on badges you can earn this month, hop over to the Badge Info Thread. If you want to check out other poetry-related hashtags, you can give the Index of Poetry Hashtags a read, as well!

@WeepingWisteria - > Day Twelve: A Letter to Mother
@LadySpark a letter to the mother of my teenaged self
@weathervane's "my mother and i have a conversation"
& then several of @rida's pieces in letters to mother
Several other threads tackled the idea of being a mother in different ways too - waiting on mothers, being a mother, relating to "mother earth" and so-on. It's interesting to trace similar NaPo themes from different threads - am I missing a poem from someone that fits in here? Please feel free to comment with a link to your own poem if you have one I missed. Our relationships / feelings with our mothers are some of the most intimate, complicated, sometimes devastating or challenging, and sometimes beautiful. And of course each person brings their own perspective, experience, and relationships to their poetry.
So in anticipation of Mother's Day - your poetry prompt today is to write your own take on a "letter to your mother" - you could write a letter to your actual mother, reflections on motherhood, write from the perspective of a mother-hen, or take a fictional-spin on the prompt, whatever you feel like! And you can share your results below if you'd like.
