Cruel Character Profiles
Summary: For the first time in YWS history, storybooks are being represented in the Writing Olympics! While there are many aspects to making a storybook and participating in one, this event will revolve around the most iconic: the character profile.
How to enter: Character profiles are usually submitted in the appropriate sections of storybooks where they remain hidden until approved. As such, you must make a post in this thread to inform everyone that you submitted a CP, but PM the actual one to me. Once the event is over, you may edit your submitted post and replace the current contents with your entry.
Description: The mechanics of storybooks have developed greatly over the years. At first, roleplay SBs didn't even exist - all participants simply took turns writing for the same character. Even after they had started appearing, participants had to create their own profile from nothing. Character templates, on which we so rely nowadays, only made an appearance much later.
If right now you were thinking you also have to create a profile from scratch, you would almost be correct. I did consider it for a while, but I decided to leave that one for another time. (The history lesson was just to make you nervous.) Instead, the CPs will be cruel because of the type of character they describe, namely villains.
Characterisation is most effectively achieved by means of a character's actions and dialogue, so doing nothing but telling should prove challenging. Don't make it too long and detailed, though, since a good CP must also be concise. In the code below is the character template you must use, so you can just fill it out and PM the completed profile to me. (Please, be cautious about where you write it, since the "Compose message" section does not have an autosave feature.)
The winners will be determined based on how original the profile is, how well it was written, where the character ranks on the sliding scale of good vs bad, and how much I like them. (Formatting won't be an issue, as long as the presentation is neat.) Note that puppy-eaters may score the highest on said scale, but pure evil might not necessarily assure victory. The woes of creating a good villain, eh? Good luck!
