You're so sweet :') I legitimately can't remember what I said in the other thread but basically I'm trying to figure out patterns of how the bioluminescence evolved in deep-sea fishes
For being interested in my research
"u and rina are systematically watering down the grammar of yws" - Atticus "From the fish mother to the fish death god." - lehmanf "A fish stole my identity. I blame shady" - Omni [they/he]
That sounds really interesting. I mean, how do you think evolved it from the first fishes? Since life originated in the ocean, arguably at the bottom, surely the fish/plants/microbes should have some bioluminescence first because they were in the Abyss zone and then diminished with each higher zone? That would have to have arisen when the first living creatures developed eyes.
I'm sorry for butting in but why would organisms NEED bioluminescence if they didn't have eyes? Like the very first of life... They wouldn't have eyes right... Or any photosensitive cells in general...
I am not sure. I think the first living creatures didn't have eyes yet and they only developed over millions of years. But what good are eyes if you can't see in the dark? Maybe bioluminescence evolved from that?
Maybe we're looking at it the wrong way... I speak with 0 scientific evidence here... But what if bioluminescence originated from land organisms like fireflies, and they somehow evolved and went to the deep seas?
I´ve no idea about that kind of science, but that´s actually a cool idea, you have. How would a firefly evolve back into some sort of sea creature? Or has it evolved in two waves, first in the ocean and later on land?
That actually makes sense... It might have evolved in two completely different places.
IDK how a firefly would become a sea creature, maybe one died and its DNA got mixed into plankton which something ate. ... That is why I should never make theories.
@MailicedeNamedy I just made something up... It seems stupid to me myself. My avatar says Checklist Challenge Winner... And that reminds me that I haven't changed my avvie since revmo.
