My parents are very, very, very conservative

One night they were talking about how crappy Walmart is and how they """pay""" $18/hr plus benefits for full-time employees -- but then usually schedule them for like 38 hr/week so they're not full time and therefore don't have to give them benefits or health insurance.

And then not half an hour later somehow politics came up and i said something about this is why corporate greed should be regulated

and they got super huffy about socialism

and i was like you LITERALLY were just complaining about corporate greed -- you KNOW it's a thing

America is a corrupt country, I think the real dictatorships are not the ones you see right away, but the ones that hide under a blanket of democracy and freedom. This is exactly this theme again with the old white men.

oh yeah that's a whole other thing. The conservative jerks are marinating in violent nationalism and screams that the rest of the world looks up to us. And it's like hmmmm have you ever actually met a non-American? 'cause most of the ones i know aren't impressed lol

Yeah, that´s exactly what we learned. When something happens in the U.S., it's top of the news, but when a factory building collapses in Bangladesh killing 1,300 people, it's once said in passing, evil companies that didn't build exits for people, and that's it. Our society has fallen so much into this spiral of capitalism after WWII that anything that is different is bad. And now these tentacles are so strong that you can't cut them off. At the same time, I would even say that communism is not bad. As long as it is not used as a policy but corporate philosophy. The USA is almost a one-party country when only red or blue wins.

but i feel like Trump was pulling the exact same moves Hitler started with. Made it us vs them. made his cult believe literally every speck of propaganda he fed them. There are news channels that are literally straight-up propaganda and he made his followers believe it was THE only reliable news source out there without an agenda.

Violent nationalism. Made immigrants out to be villains. Encouraged racism. Like there were soooooo many warning signs on stuff he was doing and his cult screamed freedom like.... no... no this is literal fascism and you're begging for more

As stupid as it sounds, he was sometimes critically built up as Hitler in the German press. Even in very extreme variants. It´s like America and the Rest of the World. Just like Germany.

Yeah, we heard that. Showed us again, that Americans are literally stupid. everything is international from the Us. We had almost a month of headlines because of the death of Goerge Floyd and was partly more important than the Corona numbers at that time.

basically, early fall Trump intentionally screwed with the US Postal Service and made them really, really struggle under normal volume directly because of his actions.

He then started talking about how unreliable the mail was and how we shouldn't allow mail-in ballots because they'll "lose" ballots from conservative regions! Because the libs are trying to destroy our country! We shouldn't allow vote by mail this year!

And of course that was stupid. And of course a ton of people would rather vote by mail than, you know, get covid at a polling site and die. But, unsurprisingly, a lot of the mailed ballots were more liberal bc the conservatives (we call them COVIDiots lol) think it's a scam and are super racist about it and believe him when he says it's not serious.

And so he's like this election is rigged! If I don't win, you'll know it was rigged! There are more of US than there are THEM and democrats will stop at NOTHING to cripple our country!!!!!
