Sighing, I sit on the recliner and run a hand through my hair.

I take a deep breath and look out on the water as well.

Jace

I hesitate before standing and finding a pair of shoes, "I-I'll be back. I just need to see something."

I sigh and look back at Jackie, "Do you just want to sit here or go in?"

Rayah

I study him before nodding.

Jackie

I look at him, "I didn't bring a bathing suit."

Jace

I hesitate before finding a hoodie and painfully pulling it over my head. Suppressing the agony, I slip out the door and start walking towards my cavern before Rayah can stop me. Nic took care of things. I'm safe here again. But I have to see that face again. I have to see that reflection.

Nic

I smirk, "And that stopped us the last time?"

Rayah

I watch him leave, sighing.

Jackie

I blush and look down, "I'm older though...so I don't look that good in a bra and stuff..." I chuckle.

Jace

I slip into my cavern and hesitate before walking to the silent pool of water in the back. My heart pounds in my chest and my torso is ignited in flames, reminding me that I need to be careful. Dropping to my knees before the pool, I take a deep breath before waving my hand over the mist.

Nic

I smile, raising an eyebrow, "Uh... your logic is flawed. From what I see, age didn't make a difference whatsoever."

Rayah

I lay down on the couch and close my eyes.

Jackie

I raise an eyebrow as well, "How would you know?"

Jace

I wait, holding my breath, until an image appears. Instead of my reflection, a different picture shows itself. Surrounded in darkness, a small cabin rests on a hill. The closer I look at it, the more the cabin looks like home. Though far away, I make out the figures of Rayah and the twins and Ella. But instead of me, the face is there. He stands gloomily on the porch, and his mood reflects throughout. Who are you? What the hell is this?

I smirk before sighing, "There's so many perverted things I could say right now, I don't even know where to start."

Rayah

I fall asleep.

Jackie

I smile, "Go ahead then. I'm kind of suspicious."

Jace

The face makes eye contact with me and I feel as if a part of me is burning. My heart leaps into my throat before I cut through the water with one hand, distorting the image.

I sigh again, "Well... your a*s hasn't changed since I met you. It's just as fine now as it was then. I would kill to see you in a bikini again. Literally. Or...other wear."

Rayah

I stir in my sleep and yawn.

Jackie

I glance down at my a*s when he says the first part and laugh when he says the second, "Is that all?"

Jace

The draft prickles at the back of my neck again and I squeeze my eyes shut, bringing a hand over it. Home. Just go home, Jae. Don't--

I freeze, holding my breath again, and open my eyes when I sense someone else in the cavern. Someone unfamiliar. Glancing back, I find him standing in the mouth of the cave, a hood concealing the face I didn't want to see.

I smirk, my eyes dropping to her chest and then her stomach, "You want me to continue? With our daughter hearing this?"

Rayah

I smile in my sleep and laugh a little.

Jackie

I smirk, eyebrow raised, "She's gonna be living with us until she's eighteen. She's gonna need to get used to you anyways."

Jace

I shakily stand and lean against the wall, not trusting my legs at this point. An unknown emotion courses through my veins. Fear? I've felt fear before. I feel my heart drop inside when I realize what it is. Fear for myself, for my own life.

"W-who are you?" I bring myself to ask, my voice stronger than I imagined it.

"Yeah, but she's in you..." I lose my smirk and cover my ears, squeezing my eyes shut, "Ew, ew, ew! Mental images! No!"
