There's a bunch of poetry contests on the Google ads that run on the Index page. I clicked on a bunch of them.
Well one of them published my poem in an online magazine or on their website or something like that. Big deal.
But today, I got mail from another one, The Famous Poets Society, saying that they loved my poem, haved moved it to the semifinals, will "personally" notify me of the results, and have asked permission to publish my poem in their book, Great Poems of the Western World. YAY!
Oh wait, I hope this isn't some stupid scam I'm falling for. I mean, they had Publish America on those ads too. And we had a way-old thread in the Lounge discussing that and basically, it's a scam.
But hey, I'll be published as soon as I sign the form and send it in. And I'll be a "Great Poet of the Western World." Haha
And my mom doesn't seem to mind. And here's the poem I submitted.
I walk down the Hall
Of a Hundred Mirrors.
In each one I see
A different face
Staring back at me,
Even though they're all the same.
In one, who I was.
In another, who I am.
In many more, my secret hopes, dreams, and wishes
Of everything I could have been,
And everything I could be.
I see a bit of everything.
Not even I
Can quite comprehend
The faces staring back at me,
And they're all mine.
Ok, weird little rant done.
