"Nice to meet you." Karter bobbed his head. "Right, well, now that that's done, I really do need to ponder how to get Barrin and Tyla to stop staring at each other so much, so I'd, uh, appreciate it if we could share the courtyard in quiet for a bit." Karter looked around. He thought he'd heard other voices, but he'd been too focused on conversing with Veronica to notice if anyone else had entered.
Cameron steps out from behind the library, noticing a few people standing in the courtyard. There's vegetables strewn across the grass, which leads him to wonder if there's some kind of event.
He counts maybe three or four people. Is this spot really that popular?
Cameron notices a blue-haired boy who is not really that tall. In fact, with a guilty smile, he realizes that this person standing in front of him is actually a little shorter than he is.
"Excuse me," Cameron taps them on the shoulder, "Do you know what's going on with the vegetables scattered all around the courtyard?"
Lum spun around to meet the gaze of someone they didn’t recognize — but their question was valid and he wanted to give it a shot. For some reason, talking with someone actually sounded … nice?
“Ah, uh, from what I gather, I think it was an accident. But,” Lum laughed nervously,” “it was kind of funny.”
He looked at the ground before glancing quickly up at the other person.
“Since, uhm, we’re both here, hi I’m Lum. They/them and he/him pronouns please.”
Lum waved a hand. Then looked down again.

“Yep. Well, I’m inclined to say it’s more of a duo now, actually, seeing as how neither of them has acknowledged my presence for the last two days.” Karter hid his sadness with a smirk. “But what do you mean, you too?”
“Well, me and this girl Mallory used to be best friends,” Veronica said, wiping the tomato juice off with the lettuce, “until she started hanging out with Kenneth… now she never wants to hang out.”

Karter examined the girl more thoroughly. She looked like a good partner in crime. "Looks like we're both third wheels, then." He dropped his voice. "I was thinking... what do you say we make some kind of potion to get the others in our trios to listen to us and maybe make things go back to normal? Totally ethically of course... involving no sacrifices of animals... just one of those basic potions?" Karter looked around to make sure no one was listening, then staggered back in surprise. When had those two other people gotten here?
Veronica’s eyes lit up at “what do you say we make some kind of potion”… and then they dropped back down at “involving no sacrifices of animals.”
A potion like that may be quite difficult… but she had no time to say any of this, for there were people coming out of the bushes. She cocked her head to get a better look at them

The two people coming towards Karter and Veronica seemed a bit hesitant. Karter adopted his least-threatening smile (not that he was very intimidating anyways, not even when he frowned) and said, "Hello. I promise I won't throw vegetables at you."
