Username changes should really only be done if you are considering starting a new account just for the name. These folks tend to be unhappy if you want to change your username for fun. So if you're going to ask for a name change, be ready to stick with it for several months, preferably years.
Unfortunately, having spaces in one's username is no longer allowed! If you see folks with spaces, it's because they were around before the rule was enacted.

You can use other forms of separating your username, though! Periods, underscores, and other kinds of punctuation can be used to split it up.
