“It really was.” Ky smiled, forcing her shoulders to relax. “Thank you for the idea. I enjoyed this very much.”

"Certainly! It's the little things that are most enjoyable, after all."

“Absolutely!” She nodded in agreement. “Good to decompress.”

Constance nodded as well. "Gods know we all need that from time to time."

“Yes ma’am.” Ky nodded. Lady Constance needed it, anyway. Ky had enjoyed their tea, but she certainly wouldn’t classify herself as decompressed now. Couldn’t do that around nobles. Never that. “Now more than ever, I expect?”

"Exactly. It's hard to think happy thoughts after war meetings."

Ky was quiet for a moment. It felt natural to follow up with a question about how they were going or how she felt about things, but that was terrifyingly close to being nosey. So couldn’t go there. Never that. “I’m sorry this is a burden you must bear… I hope they’re going as well as could be hoped.”

"We're doing our best," she sighed. "It'd be better if none of it was happening but as it is now then we're having a fine few meetings."

“That’s good at least.” Ky nodded. “I hope they continue to.”

"As do I. It helps that this is Tarr's first war."

“Yes ma’am.” Ky nodded. “… have you found many before? If-if that’s not rude to ask? Apologies.”

"I've been in one other war. It was swift and bloody." She grimaced. "A Lord's House fell in that war."

Ky blinked. “Oh?”

"House Ivan. Lord Ivan grew too bold, much like Tarr is doing now."

“…you think House Tarr will fall?”
