The man described as "the European equivalent of Osama bin Laden" will be extradited to The Hague on Thursday, 31st July 2008, and indicted for eleven charges, including crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide as committed in the Bosnian civil war of the 1990s.

Wanted Serb criminal Radovan Karadzic had been at large for thirteen years prior to his capture in Belgrade last week. He had been working as an alternative therapist since his disappearance.

Following the announcement, the EU has demanded that Mr. Karadzic's military commander, General Ratko Mladic, be arrested as well. Mr. Mladic remains on the run.
