E - Everyone

for "you"

by yoshi

i can feel it, you’ve laid this trap for me
(because everything is about me, isn’t it?)
i’m enticed by the sweet honey you’ve left in your wake–
that i gobble up savagely.
(anything for you)

the way you smile, it’s almost as if you’re inviting me
(because all you could think of was me, right?)
i smile back, but your response is just the same smile as before.
you must be so eager for my return.
(anything for you)

even the air about you is mingled with love
(because ‘you’ are making ‘me’ feel your presence)
you push me away, terrified, and i look at you in confusion
you must be playing hard-to-get.
(anything for you)

i would do anything for you, even if it means disobeying you
(because true desire is not held back by simple words)
now you’re running away from me, hiding away from me, but why?
i will find you.
(anything for "you")

This poem was incredible to read, Yoshi! So grateful I discovered this treasure. Let's get right into the review!!

i can feel it, you’ve laid this trap for me
(because everything is about me, isn’t it?)
i’m enticed by the sweet honey you’ve left in your wake–
that i gobble up savagely.
(anything for you)

I picture this scene of this tap laid out, perhaps even a sticky trap used for insects, like honey and glue and other things like that. The sweetness is what attracts the insects, or perhaps the sweetness of a persons personality attracts you, because they are kind and caring... or at least they seem to be. But then you get stuck, unable to leave or move, unless they decide to spare you. I loved this metaphor so much! And the brackets make it so much better too.

You describe this inviting smile. Maybe it is what makes you decide to stay, but everytime you are hurt, it is that same smile over and over. People hurt us and use the same tactics to make us stay, because they are trying their best, right? And being pushed away if just being playful too, right? Your words are beautiful

I love how you finished this with the 'I will find you' statement. A search for someone you already know. What lovely poetry (:

Keep writing! =)

Your friend,
Ellie

This poem really explores the human nature and how love can be easilly chnged to obsession. It is a dangerous line that one must walk, and have to be careful. This is purley showed in the second stanza with the lines "the way you smile, its almost as if you're inviting me...I smile back but your response is just the same smile as before. you must be so eager for my return". This line shows that love, or admiration, even just a pure at of kindness, can be misread and taken to a complete different level, especially to one where all the person can think is that you want them, and that your playing with them, praying for them to come to you. It was an aamzing poem, and you really captured this conflict to its full. Congrats and cannot wait to read what else you come up with

Your poem is a poignant exploration of the complexities inherent in human relationships, where desire and expectation often collide with reality. The repetition of "anything for you" underscores a sense of devotion tinged with desperation, highlighting the lengths one might go to in pursuit of affection. Yet, beneath the surface lies a subtle commentary on the dynamics of power and control, where actions may not always align with intentions. The narrative unfolds with a sense of inevitability, as the speaker's unwavering commitment contrasts sharply with the elusive nature of the object of their affection. Ultimately, your words evoke a sense of longing and frustration, encapsulating the universal experience of yearning for connection amidst the uncertainties of love.

It is lovely poem written by the author.

The poem describes about how passionate the author is about love.
This sort of thoughts every pair of lovers get in their mind.

"i would do anything for you, even if it means disobeying you
(because true desire is not held back by simple words)
now you’re running away from me, hiding away from me, but why?
i will find you.
(anything for 'you')"

I really loved this last paragraph of the poem.

Nice work, keep on writing more poems and do share them with us.
Waiting for more.
Thank you.

Oh, I absolutely love this poem! It's like you've taken the emotions and thoughts swirling inside and poured them onto the page. The way you've portrayed the narrator's obsession and the intense desire to please someone is so captivating. The repetition of "anything for you" adds a sense of devotion and hints at the narrator's willingness to go to extreme lengths. The contrast between the narrator's perception of the other person's actions and their own interpretation creates a sense of longing and confusion. It's like a dance between two souls, each trying to understand the other's intentions. The ending leaves me intrigued and wondering about the narrator's determination to find the other person. Overall, it's a beautifully written piece that evokes strong emotions. Well done!
