Isabella’s song

by vampricone6783

*Isabella is a character from my “Town of Richardson” stories. This is her song to Lucas (her husband, the ringmaster of “The Ladouceur family circus) expressing her feelings of frustration she feels for him not being close enough with her and their thirteen year old son, William. Gacha Club character designs are on my wall. Enjoy and Happy Halloween!

I never understood why you changed so much.

I never understood why we grew apart.

I miss your face, I miss your smile.

I miss you, Lucas.

Sure, you bring joy to others and sure, you let our son join in on the fun

But we want to talk to you again

We miss you being present

Please, come back to us, Lucas

Take a break from your work

Be with your family

Isn’t that what you always wanted?

To be with the family?

Didn’t you say that was the one thing you wanted in life?

I never understood why you changed so much.

I never understood why you grew apart.

I miss your face, I miss your smile.

I miss you, Lucas.

Sure, you bring joy to others and sure, you let our son join in on the fun

But we want to talk to you again

We miss you being present

Please, come back to us, Lucas

Take a break from your work

Be with your family

Isn’t that what you always wanted?

To be with the family?

Didn’t you say that was the one thing you wanted in life?

But wait..is there something I should know?

Is there something you wish to tell me?

Something dark and lonely?

I’m here for you, I’ll never leave you

You can tell me what’s wrong

Breathe, relax

I’m always on your side, Lucas

Just tell me what’s wrong and maybe we can work this out..

hello hello! i haven't reviewed in a while so uhh yeah

let's just get into this!

I never understood why you changed so much.

I never understood why we grew apart.

good introduction! i don't think it feels very spousal though? growing apart is an action typically used to describe children, not adults who should have their lives together. i like it though; creates a tense atmosphere for the rest of the lyrics. relationships are complicated, and from what you've said, this one seems to suit that.

We miss you being present

Please, come back to us, Lucas

i'm a little confused; did they grow apart, or is lucas too focused on work? if he is a workaholic who doesn't spend time with his family, that's different. people grow apart on their own, but he would have to try to interact less with them. that would change the entire meaning of this song (and isabella's point of view toward him) i think.

of course, there is also the possibility of both. that complicates it even more.

Sure, you bring joy to others and sure, you let our son join in on the fun

the son never really came in much, which is something i've noticed. i think that he could've been a bigger part of the song! since their family is in such a rough spot, what is the son going through? out of all of the people, he probably has it the worst.

Breathe, relax

I’m always on your side, Lucas

Just tell me what’s wrong and maybe we can work this out..

do things end up working out? i have obviously not read the story, but from these lyrics, i feel interested in their story. i hope it went alright!

i like this ending! isabella is really dedicated to her husband, which is admirable. like i said already, relationships are complicated. fictional ones are a totally different story; so much can be mistaken and misunderstood by readers.

good lyrics though! the storytelling is good!

best,
spatula

It's very heart touching.Particulary the refrain,"I miss you,Lucas" and the emphasis on the repeated mention of his name. The wistful quality in the poem really elevates this piece. Is the narrator a bit self-delusional and at the same time curious about his/her/them ability to work it out ? I am eager to browse through your other works. Its been a delightful experience.
