Sometimes I'm on an empty page,
my ink flows,
yet I'm running short of words.
I feel the need for inspiration,
even from the chirping of birds.
Sometimes I get stuck
and lost in my own thoughts.
Even when there is nothing to distract me,
I still will not be free.
Sometimes I want to cry.
Not for the world
but for myself.
So much beauty in the word,
through inspiration,
I could fly.
But I'm just too lazy to try.
Sometimes I want to write,
but all I think is you.
I try to fix the words,
to make them right.
It seems I'll never get through.
Sometimes I do write,
but the wordings doesn't feel right.
Sometimes I want to make words that are new.
But I'll never stop feeling blue.

Hiya!
), and when I do write, my works often don't meet my standards. I feel discouraged, but I know that it is because I don't write enough. I'm too lazy to try. It's something I want to change about myself in general, but it's hard work, and giving up is too easy.
Sometimes it overflows inside me, but I cannot express it, well or often enough. I need an inspiration; something to carry my feelings so others can understand them. Sometimes, the one I love soaks through my every thought, and I float away. Other times, even when my focus is set on other things, their love is not far away. I want to cry. I want to tell them.
All in all, I found it to be a thought provoking piece, one that could be read many times and mean something more or different each time.
Poems can have many different meanings, and can be construed in many different ways from person to person and from author to reader. Poetry has a way of relating to everyone no matter what their circumstances, or the differences across the board. That's what I love about reading it. That said, as but one reader, your poem meant something to me in two different ways (so far). That could be seen as an issue with unclear intent for the piece, but I don't see it that way, because in both ways, the poem not only relates to me, but it relates to me in detail.
Meaning 1: It made me think of having too much color to express, too many feelings, thoughts, or subjects worthy of writing down. But they are constrained either by my inability to choose one, by my inability to give their intensity due justice, or by my own laziness to devote the time necessary.
I don't devote enough time to writing (or you'd see more works in my portfolio.
Meaning 2: I read it again, and love came to mind.
They fill me with so much happiness and gratitude; if I knew how to tell them, I could pour out exactly how much they mean to me. But when the time comes, I'm speechless. I awkwardly stammer out something that sounds vaguely like a confession, and stop halfway, because something about it isn't quite right. Nothing I think up can convey my feelings, so I end with a cheesy line. I think they understand, but it's not enough. I need a bold new word for this love of mine.
Something like that. Sorry for the cheese.
My overall thoughts:
The poem clicked with me personally in a lot of ways. So much so, that detailing them all would make this review much too long.
That said, I do have a few small, hopefully constructive nitpicks.
I will readily admit that I am a terrible poetry reader (except sonnets, maybe). I had a hard time picking out the verse flow and rhyme scheme. I think I have it now, but it distracted me from the words when I first read the poem. It also caused the lines
and
to stand out to me from the rest of the poem. This may have been intentional, but they appeared slightly contrived because of it.
Like I said however, I'm not known for my ability to pick out a flow. So feel free to judge this accordingly.
A small fix:
I think it's meant to be either "but the wording doesn't feel right", or "but the wordings don't feel right."
Great Job!!!
As a final note, I've been thinking about your title. "The Time That Will Never Change". You may have a different reason for choosing it, but as I thought about it, it reminded me that time is precious. Once time has passed, it can never change. How you spent that time will be embedded in your past. So it's up to you to use it wisely, get the most out of whatever you may be doing in life. Also, despite how cheesy it may sound, it's a reminder to do your best to treasure the time you spent, and never regret the time that will never change.
I hope you enjoyed this review, and that it helped you! Keep up the good work!
Also, a very late Welcome to YWS to you!
Cheers!
Hi
your poem sounds really interesting and the details and the sort of story/plot feel it had was quite relatable if I'm thinking what you're thinking :p
"Sometimes I'm on an empty page, *try using something more specific than sometimes, like a certain time that you write when you feel the most inspired/distracted/etc if im not confusing you sorry*
my ink flows,
yet I'm running short of words.
I feel the need for inspirations, *I don't think you need the s on inspirations*
even from the chirping of birds.
Sometimes I get stuck
and lost in my own thoughts.
Even when there is nothing to distract me,
I still will not be free. *The wording here is a tiny bit iffy, "I still will not be free" implies that you refuse to be free*
Sometimes I want to cry.
Not for the world
but for myself.
So much beauty in the word, *word or world? Are you talking about the word "myself"? How does it relate to the next sentence (if you are talking about the word "myself"*
through inspiration,
I could fly.
But I'm just too lazy to try. *You suddenly start to rhyme here, you should make the rhyme consistent throughout your poem but I would recommend you to try free verse for this poem specifically*
Sometimes I want to write,
but all I think is you. *Is this becoming a romance type theme? Who is "you" and why are they important to your poem or the story/plot you are telling?*
I try to fix the words,
to make them right.
It seems I'll never get through. *Try to avoid using the word "it"*
Sometimes I do write,
but the wordings doesn't feel right. *take away s from "wordings"*
Sometimes I want to make words that are new.
But I'll never stop feeling blue.
Sometimes, just Sometimes! *Is this part of the poem or just a sort of afternote? How does it relate to the rest of the poem (if it is part of the poem)*
Your work was really interesting and your ideas are intriguing. I really enjoyed how I was able to relate to how you want to write but you sometimes just can't find anything to write about and when you do it doesn't sound right and isn't satisfying (if that is what you were trying to imply/talk about in your poem)
