Would it be Cool if I were a Mod?

by rainforest

Would it be cool if I were a Junior Mod?

Just to have my name in green.

A new, amazing, completely different me!

Apart of a new community.

-

Would it be cool if I were a Global Mod?

My name in a darker green!

I wouldn't be a junior anymore,

and I would feel more royal!

-

Would it be cool if I were an admin?

My name, a bright and beautiful red.

Just like Big Brother.

Such a helpful YWSer.

-

Would it be cool if I were Nate?

My name, in a sleek black.

Owner and founder of YWS.

The king above all.

-

But I am not a mod,

nor an admin, nor Nate.

I am myself though,

and that is important enough.

The only thing that i see wrong with this is the fact that there are 2 adverbs. It would be better if you didnt use adverbs. You did really good other ways. You are so good at this. You mistakes are:

Just to have my name in green.- you can omit the just!
And

Just like Big Brother.- Omit the just here too, because it makes sense without it.

I've always wanted to be a mod but I have been here for 8 years so I guess if it was going to happen it would have happened by now. It's just nice to be here and help people. Don't really have a review for this but it was really nice.

Haha, cool poem! You've done a good job describing each level of "royalty", as we shall say. You could change the title to a better one, though. :P

So on to my questions: What IS a moderator? And how do you become one? I can't find a satisfactory answer, so please, Elysium, clue me in! And I have to say that I enjoy most of your works, especially the poetry.

Keep it up!

Hi, I'm Maddie and I'll be reviewing your work.
You better feel proud, Captain. You manage to hit the front page, yet still stay in the Green Room. That, my fellow YWSer, is an achievement. Wear it proudly.
So, I'm not really good at reviewing poetry, so I apologize hugely if I'm sticking to more of a prose critique... XD

Well, anyways, the themes all flow together nicely. We all understand that you're having a "Shopaholic Moment," as I call them. (If you've ever read Confessions of a Shopaholic, then you understand what I mean. Becky gets 100 pounds and goes on a mental tirade on how she could pay everything off. Note that she doesn't and buys a suitcase.)
Well, I can understand perfectly that you're going on a bit of an upward spiral here, starting with a mod. Then wishing you were Nate. I wouldn't want to be Nate. As much as being the founder of this entire site would be, I don't want to think those April Fools jokes up. (This year's wasn't even funny, if you're reading this, Nate.)
Well, anyways, onto the actual poem.

Verse 1:
I see nothing wrong with this. This is the start of the Shopaholic moment, starting with a quiet thought. You've got the word apart in there though, so you might want to split that into two.
Verse 2:
I'm looking at the "Bright and Beautiful red", and can't help but think that you could add a bit more imagery in there. How about "bold and daring scarlet?"
Verse 3: Here we are, at the summit of the Shopaholic moment. Being the leader of the world/YWS. (Same thing.:P) This is essentially a poem's climax, and that is the thought that I could very well be Nate. Wouldn't that be cool? (Contradicting what I said above, but I'll hand my Nate-hood over during April gladly.)
Verse 4: Ah, now you're back in reality, and even though it's abrupt and kinda out of no-where, it can wrap a poem up nicely. Maybe you can add a verse for those that retired from being mods. (Can't remember what they're called.) The extra verse could tone the poem down and remind the narrarator that even mods become normal people. Then this verse would have its time to shine. Know what I mean?

On a last note here, Would it be Cool is like asking somebody if they think the same. Wouldn't it be cool seems more like a thought. Just to point that out.
Keep Writing!
Maddie out!

This is the first poem/story I've read on here. I really enjoyed it. It flows well and it's silly. I usually enjoy most silly things.

Wouldn't it be cool if I didn't wear pants?
My name would be Cutie Pants McGee.
Since my name is not Cutie Pants McGee,
I shall be forced to wear pants for eternity,
End syllogism.

Wouldn't it be cool if I weren't a mod?
No one would look up to me.
No one would mind,
If I had to cry.
No one would care if I leave.

If I weren't a mod, I could say what I wished
Without worrying about whom I offend.
If I weren't a mod, I could ignore that hurt girl
Instead of rushing over to defend.

If I weren't a mod, I would not have to work
And rush to the aid of some plight
of some user's request that I've dealt with before
Seventy times prior that night.

Sometimes I wonder how grand it would be
If I lost my color -- black, red, or green
But someone must work, and if that must be me
Then I'll do what I can -- you'll see, you'll see...

Aw. Your poem is beautiful. Now I sort of feel bad for you. Hang in there Snoink.

I usually don't like poems about YWS, but this one was an exception.

Without normal YWS'ers, there would be no mods, no admins, no Nate.
Thanks for being you. :3

Tuesday wrote a review...

Hello Tuesday here for a review. I like to begin that this poem could be related to most (including me) but although that this poem is satire it made me laugh and kinda made my day. Also I would say that the end would be a inspirational to the reader who would read it since being a MOD doesn't mean anything (no offense MODS) anyway being yourself on here, on YWS is all you have to be since people enjoy it when you are you or something.

I enjoyed most of the little hints of imagery since people could imagine the colors (even though you don't even say it in details). Plus I think how you use examples for each group of head leaders on YWS.

Sorry for the short review,
Tuesday

Mods control pretty much everything, so I think being a Mod means quite a bit, but maybe you meant person-wise ^_^

I am deeply disturbed by your ability to meow.
