Sundays and Mondays also work for me. Actually, the whole of next week is good for being active in the pad for a short while, as I work from home. At least until 1 am CET I could stay.

I think EST is six hours behind CET. That's doable to meet up on my part.

I don't think I want to be captain. I don't even know what my duties are, apart from being the last one off the ship when it sinks.

Would work for everyone in the pad to sort some stuff out and finish character bios? (The timezone should be automatically adjusted!)

I'll be working, but if I can sneak in I will.

If not, I'll hop in either later tomorrow or Tuesday, but if someone could fill me in on what's discussed that would be great!

Hi @Omni, thanks. Everything is fine from my side. But I don't know what the situation is like for the others. :D

@Elinor:

Since you weren't there yesterday, I just wanted to briefly sum up some of the points we discussed.

-We have now settled on the Golden Vanderbilt for the name of the speakeasy.
-There is a stray named Hoover who "lives" there. Nobody knows his breed.
-Some plot ideas we have discussed:
- A visit to the victim's funeral. (Maybe meeting one friend from the other side of the US or a family member)
- Who is the murderer? The chief of police?
- Why was he murdered? Motive? Maybe found out the money was disappearing or something.
- Who knows the victim? So far, the character Sophie has met the victim alive a few times.
- Since the cover shop is a pharmacy the code word would be something like "I´m here to get Fibralexyl or something".
- And we have a fake sick note from the doctor as a member card.

Plot:
Intro - maybe with introduction and first evening in the speakeasy where everything is normal.
Murder - Funeral - Getting the first clues
Interrogations - maybe first (wrong) accusations, etc...

I hope I haven't directly forgotten anything.

Nope! Only thing is that “what they think Hoover is” is now part of the character sheet. :)

This is all great! I'm starting to fill in my bio, but I may have to go back to add Caroline's backstory. I'll look at your bios too, but let me know if there's anything I should add or change. I'm excited to get started with this, I like our train of thought thusfar.

The only thing is I'm not sure I want to spend a lot of time writing Caroline's friends/roommates as NPCs, but maybe we can figure out a story reason that they eventually fade into the background.

(Yes, I named Caroline's love interest Julian on purpose @Plume -- I want her to deal with that past trauma and that starts with someone having the same name, sorry.)

By the way, there's a part of me that feels icky having something bad happen to her Julian, but unfortunately, I think it makes sense and is probably something that would happen at this time period, and maybe it's for the best that we don't away from some the uglier parts in the past. We don't have to have to make it a huge part of the story, but for Caroline's motivation, I think it works.

Don't worry about it, @Elinor!! The backstory's looking great!

So, next steps from here. I can finish drafting the premise sometime soon-- feel free to take a look/add/remove things from that.

In terms of an actual RP title: Do we want to call it something like "The Murder at the Golden Vanderbilt" or just "The Golden Vanderbilt" or something metaphorical or just another thing entirely? I'm very open to suggestions.

Murder at the Golden Vanderbilt seems a little too Agatha Christie for me, and I don't think that's our vibe, and I think Golden Vanderbilt is a little too plain. Titles from that time were very evocative (just look at Fitzgerald; This Side of Paradise, The Beautiful and the Damned, The Great Gatsby...) but that being said, I suck at titles, so I'm also open to thoughts/suggestions.

"Hoover and Pals."

If we're thinking about HOG/OHG not having many friends, we can make the title something relating to loneliness/no friends/something. "The Loneliest Bookeeper," "The Friendless Victim," etc, etc. None of those are very good, but you get the vibe.
