Hello good people of Storybook town!

Today I come to you with some very exciting news - we have added 12 Storybook badges for you to earn!

What do these badges look like?

Well they're shiny of course and badge-y and they look like these:

Oooh shiny! How do I get one?
Spoiler! :
If you want a badge, you need to be given a storybook challenge which you can then complete to earn a number of adventurer credits. These challenges will be issued by storybook owners or participants to revive or encourage movement in a storybook. There will also be a Captain's Challenge every month which can be completed for any storybook and is open to all.

For example, I might challenge someone in my storybook to have their character reveal a secret to character x within three posts. I would do this by posting in this thread and tagging the challenged adventurer. They would then gain 1-3 credits upon successful completion.

Who can issue a challenge?
Spoiler! :
Anyone who is the storybook owner or has a Novice rank or higher and is participating in the storybook may issue a challenge.

What must a challenge require?
Spoiler! :
To be a valid challenge it needs to require the challenged adventurer to make at least one additional post in the storybook and it can offer no more than 6 adventurer credits as a reward. Occasionally there will be official challenges issued which will allow more credits to be earned for a single challenge.

I've got enough adventurer credits for a badge... how do I claim it?
Spoiler! :
Simply make a post in this thread and a moderator will be along to verify your credits and award you with the badge.

Can I earn points from my own challenges?
Spoiler! :
Well I don't see why not. You're also putting in the effort to make a post and do the extra challenges, right? Now, if you're making easy challenges just to earn points... well *gives a stern look*

Who gives out the points? Can I use them for anything else and can they be obtained by anything other than these Challenges?
Spoiler! :
The Storybook Crew gives out the points once either you say in this thread that you've finished a challenge or we see that you have. And, these points are just for this challenge! They're made up and the only other way the SB Crew will award points will be through Captain's Challenges, Storybook Workshops, or other events!

Welcome to the World of Remnant

Welcome to the World of Remnant, Huntsman or Huntress.

Under the watchful eye of the Shattered Moon, your story begins, or ends, here. The world is on the brink of a world-wide war, and one way or another, your character is a part of this strife.

But, the world doesn't know who you are. Do you know the world, yet?

Location - 2 Points: Your Huntsman or Huntress must figure out where in the World of Remnant they reside. They must also figure out a want of their character. It can reside in the same country they're in, but I'd rather that not be the case.

Theme - 2 Points: Every Huntress has a theme. This includes a color set, a symbol, their name, and a rough idea of their weapon, aura color, and Semblance. (@Omnom can help once you have the rough ideas planned out).

Story - 2 Points: What is your character's Story? Where do you want them to end up in this world conflict?

Living, Breathing World: There is a living, breathing world within Remnant, and several characters already reside within. Learn about these characters, interact with their writers, and collaborate to bring more to the world than what is already there. Points here are flexible, so really it's all about involvement. The World of Remnant is a large canvas.

Now, I would say that I would never say no to ideas, but that's not true. What I will do is say "how about this?"

Good luck in the World of Remnant, Huntsman.

Welcome to Classes, Huntsmen

Dear First Years, congratulations on finishing initiation with minimal casualties. School will be starting soon, and it includes a rigorous and intense schedule. Classes are listed down below:

1st year courses
    -Introduction to Auras
    -History of Grimm
    -General History Lecture
    -Weapon Practicum I
    -Battle History
    -Advanced Offensive Strategies I
    -Advanced Defensive Strategies I
    -Fundamentals of Team Strategy

Due to your impressive display on the initiation battlefield, there will also be special opportunities for off-site missions, usually only reserved for second year or higher students.

Each class is worth one point for everyone involved.

However, some struggles are not the Grimm kind. These struggles are inside.

Valerian: Valerian must deal with the struggles of being a team leader for people who might not necessarily see things his way or how he deals with problems. He also finds out something about Amaranth; how does he go about talking to his fellow team leader?

Rioghail: Rioghail is still recovering from her wounds, which may inhibit her from doing things. She also has to deal with a dark cloud of a partner in Night, and is there something flourishing between her and Diamond?

Diamond: Diamond's getting calls from her family in Atlas. She is also starting to have power struggles with Valerian; she doesn't agree with him at times. How is she going to deal with the turmoil with her friends and family when she can't even deal with herself?

Night: Night never agreed with the whole "team" idea, but now he's having classes with his team, eating with them, sleeping in the same room as them. How does he keep himself distanced while still learning all he can. He's been having nightmares...

Amaranth: Amaranth has been haunted by her family for years, but now she feels like she's seeing them everywhere. She hopes her teammates can't hear her whimpers in her sleep. Plus, someone from her childhood comes to visit, but she's not sure if she can call them friend or foe.

Midori: Midori's weapon is broken beyond repair, and while the school is being understanding, they are starting to ask questions that she doesn't want to answer. She's still trying to grasp what happened at the end of initiation, and desparately wanting Cloud to reappear in her life while dreading the implications of that.

Bleu: Bleu is struggling in classes that seems natural to his teammates. He doesn't want to ask his friends for help, and sometimes he thinks that they don't even like him. All the while, he has to deal with his first crush.

Rhyence: Rhyence has received news that trouble is brewing in Menagerie. He struggles with the inability to contact his family while some terrible rumors surface about him.

Reese: Reese has just accepted this dangerous job from that mysterious woman. He must look into these loose strands that he was given as he begins what is arguably the most difficult job he's had: Break into Atlas.

Topaz: Topaz has been much a mystery here, as she has been in her own life. However, one thing has remained consistent: She has strayed back to Menagerie for reasons unknown to her. She has been seeking answers, and the White Fang has approached her for a glimmer of hope: There is a miracle healer in Atlas that can cleanse people of their unwanted Semblences. That is her next move.

Claret: Claret has just accepted a ride from a complete stranger to her former captor. She must trust nothing while she gets her bearings of the situation she unwittingly thrusted herself into at her most vulnerable situation. Her life is on the line.

What exactly is a storybook challenge?
"What are words if you really don't mean them when you say them?"

The Challenge: This challenge comes in three parts;

Complete Your Profile: As it states. But also, you should include a Personal Mission that your character will work towards throughout the story!

Introduce Your Character: Write a first post, introducing your character and have them interact with at least one other character in that post. Also try to include why they're there, which will probably be the rumours of necromancy.

Overhear A Rumour: There's three parts to this rumour; a suspicious individual has been seen in Omeka, Reska and Keles. You must try to decide which one is the actual rumour and which ones are the red herrings/false leads. Good luck!

Completion Time: Three posts per person.

Credits Awarded: One point per part; so three points total.

((I really hope I am doing this right))

Challenged Spies and Cops: @Fantascifi66 @WriterSister33 @Luke14 and @Liberty500

This challenge is in 3 parts:
1: Start your spy/cop assessment. You will be paired with a spy if you are a cop, and a spy will be paired with a cop. You will be thrown into an escape room, and you must work together to get out. ((There must be a complete profile. Looks, age etc.

2: Once you are out, you will be sent on a mission. Landscape must be a busy town, such as New York, Los Angeles, etc.

3: Every spy must disappear at the end. New identity, new life...

Points/credits to everyone who has a post with a good plot, good profile, and the post is longer than 600 words.

((If it helps, feel free to read the chapters of my book!))

@Kirkiln

How will people complete this challenge? Do I need to make a storybook discussion or something where people can post?

It's kind of like a roleplay, from what I have gathered. You create a character, but you have to follow the settings and rules that I laid down...and you have to write it like story..

I might not be @Kirkiln, but I can answer your questions in his stead! :)

Storybooks are a lot like roleplays, but there are a few differences. Roleplays involve little interaction between your characters outside of each individual post, while storybooks are built on characters that aren't yours playing a heavy role in your post - basically, you ignore the rule of not controlling other people's characters. They function a lot like a regular novel, but just have multiple people writing it at the same time. There's usually rounds of posts where people post in a set order, but it can also be random if you have a plot in mind!

Storybook Rules & Resources goes into much more depth about storybooking, and I highly recommend checking it out if you're still confused! I don't know if my following explanation will do the storybook section justice, and I think the explanation there will be more useful than mine can ever be.

In order to post in this thread (Storybook Badges & Challenges), you need to have a storybook up and running. That usually involves a discussion thread - which is what you're probably thinking of, @FireSpyGirl! - but that DT is used just for the plotting. The actual posts go in the official storybook thread. People complete your challenge by posting in that storybook.

(I don't have a storybook that I can use as an example right now, but imagine for a quick second that the Angels and Demons roleplay was a storybook! A thread called Angels and Demons [DT] in the Specific Storybook Discussion thread would be where we discuss all of our evil schemes, and the thread in the Storybooks forum is where we'd do the actual posting. I'd leave a challenge here with the name of the storybook and the details of the challenge.

If you completed part of the challenge and posted in the regular old storybook thread, you would come to this thread to claim whatever points you get from the challenge. You could mention in the DT that you posted here and in the storybook, but it's up to you!)

Let me know if you guys have any questions!

So get up and use them.

It depends. Most of the time, you need to be the one running the storybook. If you're above the novice rank - which you can get by completing challenges - you're allowed to issue challenges if you talk about with the owner of the storybook. Going back to the example I made, I'd need to be running Angels and Demons to make a challenge for it; you wouldn't be able to. If you make a storybook challenge, it's usually because you want people to post in your storybook.

For example, if this was a storybook instead of a roleplay, you could make a challenge for something like Pumpkin town! You and I would be the only people tagged in the challenge, since we were the only two participants of it.

Does that help, @FireSpyGirl?

(I really suggest checking out the thread I linked in my last post if my explanation is lacking. :))
