Hello good people of Storybook town!

Today I come to you with some very exciting news - we have added 12 Storybook badges for you to earn!

What do these badges look like?

Well they're shiny of course and badge-y and they look like these:

Oooh shiny! How do I get one?
Spoiler! :
If you want a badge, you need to be given a storybook challenge which you can then complete to earn a number of adventurer credits. These challenges will be issued by storybook owners or participants to revive or encourage movement in a storybook. There will also be a Captain's Challenge every month which can be completed for any storybook and is open to all.

For example, I might challenge someone in my storybook to have their character reveal a secret to character x within three posts. I would do this by posting in this thread and tagging the challenged adventurer. They would then gain 1-3 credits upon successful completion.

Who can issue a challenge?
Spoiler! :
Anyone who is the storybook owner or has a Novice rank or higher and is participating in the storybook may issue a challenge.

What must a challenge require?
Spoiler! :
To be a valid challenge it needs to require the challenged adventurer to make at least one additional post in the storybook and it can offer no more than 6 adventurer credits as a reward. Occasionally there will be official challenges issued which will allow more credits to be earned for a single challenge.

I've got enough adventurer credits for a badge... how do I claim it?
Spoiler! :
Simply make a post in this thread and a moderator will be along to verify your credits and award you with the badge.

Can I earn points from my own challenges?
Spoiler! :
Well I don't see why not. You're also putting in the effort to make a post and do the extra challenges, right? Now, if you're making easy challenges just to earn points... well *gives a stern look*

Who gives out the points? Can I use them for anything else and can they be obtained by anything other than these Challenges? -Inpsired by DreamingForever
Spoiler! :
The Storybook Crew gives out the points once either you say in this thread that you've finished a challenge or we see that you have. And, these points are just for this challenge! They're made up and the only other way the SB Crew will award points will be through Captain's Challenges, Storybook Workshops, or other events!

Challenged Adventurer(s): @saentiel, @SirenCymbaline, @soundofmind, @CoffeeCat, @Lael, @PrincessInk, and @DarshayataDeka

Storybook: Stargazers: Our Ghosts

The Challenge: Introductions and Interactions

This storybook focuses a lot on characters. But before we can begin to explore our new characters, we have to bring them up in our story! Your challenge is to write your first post for the storybook. But, because interactions are also another important way to show what a person is like, you are also challenged to include some sort of interactions with another character in the storybook!

Completion Time: 12

Credits Awarded: You can get up to three credits in total! The first credit you can get is by writing your first post. The second credit is by having that post be over two hundred and fifty words. The third credit is by including an interaction between your character and at least one other one.

Corrick's Mission

Corrick's main goal during the ball is to find his target by any means. He must be discreet, as the person he is trailing might catch onto him at any time.

1: Find any evidence relating to Myaran sabotage, since his target will most likely be behind it.
2: Reduce casualties as much as possible. A clean job, in and out.
3: Locate his target, and finish the job.

Aracelis' Mission

Aracelis was invited to the ball for one purpose, and one purpose only: to make some mulahhh to look out for Nadir. All signs were pointing toward him attending that ball.

1: Keep an eye out for Nadir
2: Keep an eye on Malek, because he likes to find trouble
3: There's a lot of rich people attending the ball. Who wouldn't mind losing a couple of coins. Ace might be able to help with that.

Malek's Mission

Unlike Aracelis, this ball is strictly a mission for Malek. Not just a mission. This is for safety, not just for him, but for all of Myar. Nadir must not leave this ball.

1: Find Nadir
2: Make Nadir talk
3: Avoid suspicion from both Nadir's followers and Halona's friend who's after him

Halona's Mission

While Halona's mind is in conflict, her goal here is clear: make sure the ball doesn't end in disaster for her and her friends, even if she has to intervene on Corrick's mission. Must she clean up other's messes all the time?

1: Keep an eye on her new friends.
2: Keep an eye on Corrick and make sure he doesn't kill her new friends.
3: Fend off anyone who distracts her. Especially men. And pray for them if they try to hit on her.

Rakan's Mission

Rakan's mission is super simple: he's gonna have fun. Oh boy, he's too naive and narcissistic for what's about to happen.

1: Meet some rich people.
2: Maybe if he's around rich people, he'll seem rich, right? Right?!
3: If he seems rich, I'm sure someone will date his hot looks and personality.

In order to earn any points, your post must be at least 750 words.

Relic Hunting

For Everyone

A relic is aboard the Leviathan. Its location is known, so now the next step is to find it in-story. That is worth 1 Point.

However, finding the relic is just the beginning. The team must work together to unlock its powers.

Completion Time: We have a posting order, so you know already how many posts before the ball ends :D

Credits Awarded: 1 point per challenge completed. 1 point for the person who finds the relic.

The introductory posts have been concluded, and thus we move into the action/combat part of our plot. As we move into this, I want to see our characters interact, and maybe even *gasp* bond. So, I've got some things I would like for us to do to ensure such interactions happen.

Jinpachi Watanabe, 甚八渡辺

Watanabe has seen some stuff in his time. He served loyally under Emperor Meiji, and was forced to do some morally gray actions. While he fights for the greater good, his means of doing so can be, well, not so good. My challenge to myself is to have him discuss his actions with another member of the team, or multiple. The second challenge for him is to ensure that Masumi doesn't hear what he's done, as he doesn't want her opinion of him to change.

Peter Lacy, カウボーイ

As an American, most of the group is distrustful of Peter. However, he decides to valiantly help Higashi Village, despite the negative feelings thrown at him. @Wolfical's two challenges are to have Peter discuss why he wants to help them, both the moral side of it and the person gain side of it. This can be worked into conversation with any of the characters except Masumi.

Ueda Shun’en, 上田

We saw a little bit of Shun'en's backstory, but it was pretty vague. My challenge for @soundofmind is to make Shun'en tell another member of the group about his relationship with Tsuda. Your second challenge is to give some detail to what Tsuda mentioned, Shun'en converting. The second challenge does not have to be completed through a conversation with another character, but it can be.

Chikako Saeki, 千香子彩木

We've seen that Saeki can be self centered about her looks, and so it's not unexpected for her to brag about them. My challenge for you, @CoffeeCat, is to have Saeki brag to another member of the group about her looks. My other challenge is for you to have her discuss her fame in the geisha house as a result of those looks, whether it be in her head or with another character.

Eiryu/Chiru 栄龍/鶴

Chiru is a well known assassin who's worked under multiple aliases. My first challenge for you, @Synnoev, is to have Chiru talk about her past jobs with any member of the group. My other challenge is to have her discuss what's happened since the last time she saw Watanabe with, unironically, Watanabe.

Yang Wei Cheng, 楊巍誠

Wei Cheng has travelled from China, and thus has only one motivation for helping the Japanese; to fight Americans. This may confuse some members, so @Lael, your challenge is to have him explain such to another character. Your other challenge is to elaborate on his mental hatred for basically anyone who isn't Chinese.

Fujikawa Kyoko, 藤川虚子

As a female ronin, Kyoko will face a lot of bias. This may not come from the group as much as others, but your challenge, @XxXTheSwordsmanXxX, is to have Kyoko talk with other characters about the bias she faces. Your other challenge is to have her, either mentally or verbally, explain why she chose to be a ronin, despite the gender stereotypes.
---

Completion of one challenge will earn you two points, and completing the second challenge will earn you a third point. This challenge's expiration date is one month from today. Run wild with it. :)

Challenged Adventurer(s): @saentiel, @Sheyren, @CoffeeCat, @EldritchArchivist, @jimss23, @Kelpies

Storybook: Obscurities

The Challenge: Introductions of the Normal and Abnormal

The story - as well as the school year - begins! With everyone filing into Heathermont Academy, it's time to meet the cast. Make sure to sure both the character in your post as well as their host/obscurity, since a big part of who they are is determined by their respective partner. Also, since people usually have mixed feelings on the start of the school year, it may be wise to show how they feel about the story's educational institute.

Completion Time: 12 posts

Credits Awarded: The first point is for posting in the storybook. The second is for including your character's host/obscurity in it, depending on which character you decide to write for in your post. The third point is if you include their thoughts on the start of the school year. And the fourth point you can receive is if your post exceeds five hundred words.

Challenged Adventurer(s): @saentiel, @SirenCymbaline, @soundofmind, @CoffeeCat, @Lael, @PrincessInk, and @DarshayataDeka

Storybook: Stargazers: Our Ghosts

The Challenge: First Impressions and Settling In

It seems like everyone has arrived at the meeting! Now that they'll all here, it's time for all of them to meet each other. Since no one has met everyone, they're bound to have some first impressions. And, of course, they have to get used to Stargazers if they aren't already! If they are, they're probably thinking about why they love it. I wonder what their thoughts are?

Completion Time: 12 posts

Credits Awarded: You can get up to four credits in total! The first credit you can get is by writing your post for this round. The second credit is by having that post be over five hundred words. The third credit is for having your character's impressions of at least two other ones (excluding Lily). You can get the last credit by including your character's thoughts on Stargazers as an organization - do they like it? What do they like about it? Thoughts like those count for that last point.

Captain's Challenge: Omens
As Issued By First Mate Lumdog Millionaire

It is August, YWS, and you know what that means--it is already spooky season until Krampus time, which is equally accursed and creepy for equal, yet different, reasons. We skip the turkey because, in my grandfather's words, "Ain't no turkey never done me good."

But your challenge is excellent as a primer for our windup to Spookybook Season! This is all about subtle, delicate, nuanced foreshadowing...dropping hints to coming events. Leaving a trail of metaphors or prophecies that your character may not pick up on. Maybe they do. How in-tune with the supernatural is your character? How poignant is their ESP? Here's the deal:

You shall receive two credits for weaving together an omen in your storybook post cleverly. It cannot be as simple as a bolt of lightning striking a cathedral where a grand boss fight will happen. Perhaps not even that grand. We ultimately will go by the honor system because we trust you. That is two credits. You may repeat this challenge three times for a maximum of six points.

To help you, I've compiled some idea sparks that you may search on your own:
1. Numerology
2. Floral Symbolism
3. Storm Symbolism
4. Animal Symbolism
5. Symbolic meanings of cards (numerology for a 52 deck, tarot for a fortune deck)

@TheSilverFox --> I will Grant Aether points pending you continue the hummingbird motif through the story for Brayel.

I will also grant the Omens points, ironically, due to the out-of-orderness of your post in the timeline due to the Aether datestamp phenomenon in Chapter One, as well as the setup of the apprentice as a potential omen.

Thirdly, I am also claiming two points for the Omens challenge for the use of pink glasses that will come back, as well as many other omens in my post and three points for my Aether Challenge in revealing some Aerie backstory, as well as a trial scene.

Four points for @saentiel for the Stargazers challenge!

_______________

Limping in from the cobblestone arena, three victors of battle emerged bruised and contused, readied for white mages to see to their wounds. @TheSilverFox had surpassed the great and formidable @Rydia for a brief moment of combat and demanded his victory be recorded for posterity! The crowd had gone wild for the bouts of magic and druidry that had been displayed in the arena. Healed up, it was clear on Fox's face that he was proud--but for how long remained a mystery. Rydia clearly seemed up to high scheming.

Meanwhile, across the hall, @Lumi and @Wolfical discussed their duel, as his fire magic and her shapeshifting powers had stirred the crowd into a frenzy as well! It was at the last moment, when Lumi extinguished the last of his mana, that he won the day by fearing the wolf into the out-of-bounds cold water around the arena by causing an explosion around him. It was worth noting, however, that at that moment, she had the upper hand upon having transmuted her body into that of a rampaging wilderbeast, which would've no doubt eviscerated Lumi with ease.

And finally, there was @saentiel, who had closed the ceremony by transforming her magics into that of a purple hue, symbolizing her evolution into a Amethyst Magician of the royal court--something of development in the Storybook Forums.

It had been a beautiful day, all-in-all.

Now if only we knew anything about the Pokemon world...
I am a forest fire and an ocean, and I will burn you just as much
as I will drown everything you have inside.

Claiming a point for this post here. -> Fireheart In which Rakan hangs out with some rich gamblers. If it made him seem rich (up to @Omnom to decide, really), then I'll actually be claiming two points rather than one.

@saentiel and @EldritchArchivist, your four credits for the Obscurities challenge have been awarded!

@Sheyren, I'll let @Omnom award your credit/s, owing to the exact number being unclear.

Finally, I claim twelve credits for myself - three for each of my posts in Aether and Pokebook VI: World Tour , and then three more for completing last month's CC with each.

Challenged Adventurer(s): @Rydia @AstralHunter @TheSilverFox @Sheytato @RippleGylf @Lumi

Storybook: Mana

The Challenge: Adloquium

2 pts for ending the encounter with Bellatrix and retrieving the Silvertear. What it does to restore mana to Silverlake is your call. This may be claimed by one person unless that person's post does not cover the restoration of mana; in which case the challenge will duplicate, and another adventurer will have a shot at witnessing the release of mana, as well as the end of the blizzard.

2 pts foreshadow the next primal god any length down the timeline, and get us back to Howlengale by teleportation magic--a spectacle.

You all may also take this opportunity to find Starweaver Garbs throughout the Rivenhold. The bonus time, exploration, and gearing will prove highly useful in future encounters.

Completion Time: Thirty days.

Credits Awarded: 2 unique. 2 potential unique. 2 unique. 0 for gear.

Challenged Adventurer(s): @CoffeeCat @Sheytato @ScarlettFire @TheSilverFox @Lumi

Storybook: V

The Challenge: History Roars As A Freighter At Night

Volody must find a clue in his new pack leading him to Broken Japan, though he doesn't know where it is. Diverge the timeline by your discretion. 2 pts - Either return home covertly to retrieve a map of United Earth, or 2 pts - find a library in The Ukraine from which you may steal knowledge, which may be a wealthy and coveted commodity in this day and age.

Finally, assuming the library timeline, 2 pts - have Volody (for good rational purposes) steal a tome of non-revisionist history so we, as writers, may clarify some preceding events to the story.

Completion Time: One post each. 30 days.

Credits Awarded: Max 2 pts per participant, all challenges are unique unto themselves.

Challenged Adventurer(s): @Tortwag @AstralHunter @TheSilverFox @Nikayla @Caesar @Sheytato @Jagged @Lumi

Storybook: Aether

The Challenge: Sorrow Lasts For The Night

2 pts - In your next set of Chapter One posts, include great sorrow to set the tone properly for what is to come. Balanced with neutral and comic writing is encouraged, but remember that this is an enormous tragedy. This challenge applies to everyone.

1 pt include a foreshadowing element in your next post (how I wish Hunter could've gotten CC points for his Aether post...) I have no doubt that each of you are innovative enough to construct an omen of your own; and remember that this will fetch you bonus points from the Captain's Challenge as well.

Completion Time: 30 days

Credits Awarded: Three points max

Challenged Adventurer(s): @chibibo @AstralHunter @TheSilverFox @Lumi @Nutty @Rosendorn @Tortwag @Sheytato

Storybook: Pokebook VI: World Tour

The Challenge: On The Crest of the Wave

It is time for the Affection Tourney! It's time to activate some crests, Episode 2!

2 pts - Either compete in the tourney or commit to a sub-arc for your character not involving battle. The battles must be rich and fresh with creative use of Pokemon moves, and both the battles and the sub-arcs must highlight your characters' crest quality!

1 pt - Activate your crest if it has not already. Remember, though, that we are still in the dark as to what they mean or function as.

Completion Time: One or two.

Credits Awarded: 3 max.
