All writers have habits of theirs, strange or not, that may or may not help their writing (many famous authors have enjoyed writing while naked  ). I don't write naked, heh, but I have some writing habits.

For instance, I find it hard to write in the morning and the middle of the day. In fact, I write best late at night, from about 11 PM to 1 AM. Note the time of my post; I am still very much awake after finishing a chapter of one of my stories. :twitch:

It is difficult for me to write when I don't have an internet connection. I can still write, but I like to minimize browsers with my research articles, other people's stories, or discussions I am in. For some reason, reading or looking at my comfort sites on the web helps me write more smoothly. Maybe it's like writer's porn or something.

I like to have pictures of the current scenery in my stories. I'm going to be writing a chapter set on a beach soon, so I have a dramatic black and white picture of a beach on my desktop. It really inspires me. I will change the picture when I come to a different scene in the story. :)

Do you have any?

I have a special writing hoodie that I always wear when I write, it's pretty old and the fabrics all pilled, it also has a fish on it, so that makes it perfect for me.It's snuggly and warm, perfect in winter but it's a pest in summer, I get too hot and can't concentrate.

Aside from that, I have one or two special writing pencils, they always seem to be blue, not the writing colour but the design on them...

I think that's about it for me ^^
please grant me my small wish; (love me to the marrow of my bones)

I don't really have any habits........I prefer to write from 4 in the afternoon onwards. I do however, write in black ink mostly, writing in blue just for some reason isn't right for my 'creative juices'. LOL. Which is strange because all my school work is mostly done in blue ink.

I also have a habit of writing better on dark days...which is OK seems as I live in England!

I don't like writing in an exposed place. That's probably just paranoia though. So, I don't like using the office computer because it just feels open and people walk in all the time. I like to write in my room, in my bed, with the lights off except my reading light.

I have a habit of stopping mid-sentence to do something completely unrelated and random. I also refuse to write unless I'm home alone- which, actually, makes for a lot of time that I have to myself. I also prefer to listen to music rather than the television while writing.

And when I'm at my dad's house I bounce ideas off my turtle.

I like writing at my desk late at night, but I end up looking out the window alot. Writing on single leafs of paper is easier than writing in a notebook, and black pen is the best.

My writing habits tend to differ with where I'm writing. But some things never change when I write. I always write inside a notebook, and I use pencil. It makes it easier to erase any mistakes I make. I also prefer to listen to music when I'm writing opposed to tv. Tv distracts me from what I'm doing.

I listen to music when I write too. My only other habbit I can think of is I have to write outside. That might explain why I can't get more chapters of my book up.
I will always fight back, no matter what.

I write in the mornings during the summer (9 AM to 11 AM) and during the winter I mainly write in the evenings (4 PM to 7 PM). Since school is going on during the winter/fall/spring, though, I rarely write more than an hour at a time :( . Speaking of how much I write.... I generally write three handwritten pages (1 single spaced typed page) a day.

Any quirks of mine? Hmmm. Well, when I'm writing I need near total silence. I usually just take my laptop into a back room to be away from the din of my family. I listen to some music before I write, but never during. I find music helps put me into a certain mood and reflects on my style, but I can't concentrate solely on writing with other sounds. Also, I nearly always read a chapter or two of a novel whose author has a style I want to imitate in what I'm writing at the time for a half hour before I sit down at the keyboard.

So in a sentence, I'm a slave to routine. If everything isn't perfect, I can't put down my full potential on paper.

I've got awful writing habits. I'll open Microsoft Works and then I'll go back to Firefox, and I won't get anything written. *laazy*

When I do actually write, I tend to write best in the late evening/early night. After midnight, I start getting silly and sleepy, and my writing goes down hill.
I prefer to write on the computer, but sometimes I'll write in a notebook when the mood strikes me, but always in pen, and always in a specific color. (I change colors based on what I'm writing.)
I always listen to music- it helps set the mood for whatever I'm writing. (Although when in doubt, I listen to U2, because you just can't go wrong with U2.) Sometimes I'll stop writing for a moment (usually to crack my knuckles) and realize that the music stopped ages an' ages ago, and then I'll turn it back on and put it on repeat.

I really need to set up some sort of daily writing routine.

I cant write with any natural light coming in. Not because it makes it difficult to read teh screen just because I like my writing to be private and closing all the curtains makes it feel that way.

When not writing on the PC I have two pens that are MINE and i will not use again if people use them (infuriates my mother) and i warn people not to touch my notebooks or my pens else bad things happen.

Strange indeed but I am kindof superstious becasue i was once writing so well with one pen then mymother stole it and i just couldnt get started not with any pen untill i bought a new one. Dont exactly know why.

Oh and the music i listen to has to be happy.
Man:George look at this.
George: look at what?
Man: Ha made you look!
George: Idiot!

i need something to inspire me like music or a picture, but mostly i need loud heavy and screaming emotional music, i can write really goood then.

Or i just have to be doing it spontainiously, but it mostly happens when im round people who i love or i find really purrrttty, cos then i dunno why i burst into poetic verses in my head XD

and if its in a book or on paper, its got to look good, so ill doodle on the paper or use leather bound books or ones ive drawn on.

Ethannnnnnnnnnnnnn
You forgot me again, ill just stay here to bleed and rot, kiss my corpse and tell them i died i full man, when i died but a child

I don't know, up until recently I'd be super picky about "environment" and all that, but I've stopped caring. It's a mindset shift or something- major, and in the space of a week. Ooer.

But, yeah...I prefer to write in my room, with music on in the background- stuff that's not too heavy. Late night or early morning is best, as long as the house is quiet.

And I absolutely must have a plethora of Post-Its and pens around, in case I hit another thousand word mark to cross off or think of something but am too lazy to edit it in. That happens quite often. XD Sitting on a desk is usually better- I tend to fall asleep on the floor or in my bed. Don't know quite why; there is simply something hypnotic about my carpet.

I write naked.

Um... just kidding. I don't think I have many writing habits. I do have many habits that involve procrastinating from writing though! ^_^

Music, I wirte best with music blasting in my ears. Blocks out everything else. I've kinda gotten into the habit of writing at my computer now. I used to hand write everything, now I can just type away.
