Anyone who says anything other than Lupin has clearly been hit by a very strong Confundus Charm.

Lupin all the way! He was the only one who actually taught DADA.

Quirrell was scared of his own subject (probably be cause he had the worst part of his subject hanging out the back of his head!).

Lockheart was a selfish, hogger of all stories, trying to make himself hero. and then of course, by trying to take the fame, he loses all his memories (totally deserved it!).

Lupin taught what they needed to know: Boggarts, Grindylows, Dementors... the works. A great job. :)

Moody didn't even get to teach because he was under the effects of Dark Arts (what a great teacher to have!)

Umbridge was from the ministry, loved cruelty, supported Voldemort (indirectly), and was determined to make life miserable for all except Slytherins.

And Snape, thought he turned out to be a great person, was excessively mean to all except Slytherins, because his mind was twisted with hatred over Lily's death. None the less, he did teach important subjects in DADA....that was the only positive though. :P

And then, of course, the last year (that Harry wasn't in) was "more liked Dark Arts..." (-Neville Longbottom), in which everybody's torturing everybody else.

So.... I'm wondering why anybody chose Umbridge...
And that's my sum-up of the DADA teachers at Hogwarts. :)
Sylvia.

Wait, whaaaaaaaaaaat?
Sorry to say, I have no idea what this is because of the fact that I don't have a cable TV, (actually, I'm glad I don't because there is some pretty weird stuff on TV, and my mom doesn't really believe in magic, ghosts, zombies, etc.)

Oh come on... If I could have any of them as my own teacher, it would definitely have been Moody. None of the others had the guts to kill spiders in class with a spell.

I voted for Lockhart because he was the most hilarious and the most stupidest. Lupin was the best.

Yup, I voted for Lockhart because he was fantastically fashionable and many ghostwriting wizards probably made their living through him! He was only, well, slightly?? misguided... !!! His hair! haha

I picked Puling based soley on how good of a teacher each professor was. For example: even though some of my favorite characters are Snape and Umbridge I would much rather have Lupin as a professor.

Lupin and "Mad-Eye Moody" were the only ones who taught the class well. Everyone else? They were rather poor... to put it bluntly. Snape was too caught up with himself to teach it properly, also. His personal story was cool, but I would hate him as a defense against dark arts teacher.

As far as Lupin and "Mad-Eye Moody"? Lupin wins points for being the only NICE DADA teacher. So thus he is the winner.
