If you haven't tried any of our new random generators yet, then go check them out! There's the story theme one, name, poem, and poetic line. To get to them, just go to 'Community' ->> 'Downloads & Games.' They're about halfway down.

So pick your favorite, and after you do, post one of your favorite (or any) results you got from it right here.

This totally rocks!!! Here are a few I got from the random story generator, and my interpretation in parenthesis underneath:

Character: maid
Setting: behind enemy lines
Action: groaning at a bad pun
(she’s a secret agent stuck with a newbie who thinks he's witty)

Character: lawyer
Setting: under the bed
Action: dialing a phone
(an opponent has sent someone to kill him!)

Character: musician
Setting: tv set
Action: pointing at random bits of sky
(he’s a character in a drama, and is a little high at the moment)

Character: freelance writer
Setting: storeroom
Action: munching on melons
(she’s hiding from her adoring fans ;))

Character: secretary
Setting: Blackbeard's ship
Action: watching ballet
(…okay, I give up)

The poetic line is wonderful when you adapt for a story to set the scene. Look I what I changed something to say:

The waves of fog embraced under the glowing sunlight, with flickering lights shining from the damp leaves. In the distance, two men of a distant time echoed desire under the airy sky, longing for a just freedom.

I changed stuff and added stuff and took stuff away, but I liked it.

Look at these:

the men of love whisper beside the river,

your oldest friends of tears speak under the cover,

Hahahahaha!

Random name generator, because (a), it's the only one i've seen, and (b), because it's fun to randomly pm random random members at random moments when you are feeling random. (confuzzled yet?)

I voted "What????" because I hadn't heard of them before, but now that I've used them... Story Theme, definitely.

But I have a question:

If I use the poem generator, come up with a poem, and post it on YWS, is it considered...

1) Plagiarism from YWS
2) Plagiarism from every single poem that you used those lines for
or
3) Not plagiarism at all?

lol, just wondering...

Oh, and I had a suggestion for a generator, make one that gives you rhyming results if someone puts in a word. (For people trying to rhyme poems...)

For example

I put in "Cut"

The generator gives me "Tut, Rut, Mutt".

I don't know, but that would be interesting...

The "Rhyme Generator".

Wozz ->> The poem generator is just something for fun, and you shouldn't post it as your own work. For one, that would be plagiarism as it's the work of others, and also you didn't write it. There is a thread for it though in the Randomness forum if you want to post one you liked.

The poetic line is different as it is entirely random. But I'd only use it for an opening line, if that. Otherwise, whatever you put together is just going to be entirely senseless. And again, it wouldn't be your work.

The rhyming generator is a good idea, and it's something I looked into. But, the programming is too advanced for me, and besides, there's plenty of sites that already do it really, really well. Still, if there's enough interest, I'll look more into it.
