So? I agree; dragons are incredibly cliched as a part of today's culture, especially with the inundation of anime and bad fantasy programming. The monkey is more original, and more fitting, as a symbol of intelligence and yet playfulness. Plus they're a heck of a lot cuter than dragons.

Vote monkey or suffer the wrath of Fand!

To all potential dragon or kangeroo voters:

Please note that any vote against monkeys will result in the timely 'termination' of your pet kitten.

If you do not own a pet kitten, one shall be provided.

Thank you.

There was me thinking that this site was very against bullying. Whilst I do agree that a monkey is a good idea for the site- when I first saw the poll the Shakespeare thing leapt to mind- I've always been a huge dragon fan, and voted for it. I AM PROUD!
(However, if WINGED monkeys make it, I will be extremely satisfied. Big fan of the Oz series ;) )

Meh. I like the monkeys, but the dragon one is easier on the eyes (but it just doesn't look like YWS to me... then again, I still miss the original notebook theme :P)

Maybe I'll look for a darker monkey picture...that'd be awesome.

People ... those mascot backgrounds aren't going to be what the mascots will actually look like. Don't base your opinion on them alone.

Ok, I swear, the next person that says "I vote dragon, because they are cooler," is going to get a lecture on what the definition of a mascot is.
Got YWS? I do.

Jack brings up a good point. The backgrounds you see will not be what the mascot looks like; especially the dragon one!

Ok...first, "awesomer" is not a word... Second, even though dragons are cooler, that's not why you pick a mascot. You pick a mascot that makes sense and represents the given team organization, or whatever. Also, WHERE DO YOU PEOPLE GET MONKEYS AS BEING ORIGINAL????? The monkey is no where near original, it's been the biggest sense sliced bread since I was in 3rd grade...that was a good 5 years ago. I'm sorry, but Aeropostal ruined the monkey thing. Dragons, on the other hand, come in many different shapes and sizes. They can be big or small; they can fly or not have wings; they can be whatever color you think up for them; and they aren't all evil. There is such thing as a good dragon. Also, because they are fantasy creatures created in your imagination, they can look however you want them to look.

VOTE DRAGON...or dancing elephant.

1) I don't believe ANY of us said monekys were an original idea--inj fact, I believe most of our words were along the lines of "they're less cliches than dragons."

2) Monkeys come in all shapes an sizes too.

3) you're right, awesomer isn't a word, and I'm positive this is why Write Me put it in quotes.

4) Dragons, in the classic, Western sense, are evil, maiden stealing, village razing creatures who breathe fire and flap huge wings.

5) you still failed to give a reason why dragons represent us, as a forum.
Got YWS? I do.
