ThePatchworkPilgrims says...

It has begun. Those who seek to control us, the politicians and soldiers of this world, shall no longer keep the truth from us. It has to be told before it's too late.
Seventy-six hours ago, several of the security boards of the various regions of the world started rounding them up. The Chronos. Individuals who had left their mark on history, whether good or bad. Where they came from is a mystery, or how they are alive again, but one thing is for certain, the higher ups of this world are too scared to tell us.

We demand answers! Let us stand as one against those who seek to keep us living in silent ignorance while they operate covertly among us. Let us demand from our regional leaders to be open to us, and demand what little liberty we still have remaining.

This message appeared on all easily accessible media sources three weeks ago, on the fifteen of March (The Ides of March). In that time, the world has never come closer to all out anarchy. People rose up against the regional authorities, breaking into compounds and facilities to free these so-called Chronos. Borders were closed and trade between the international regions was halted as leaders and the security forces tried to contain this flood of individuals seeking to expose the governments' secret projects and documents.

However, no expected the greatest danger to come from the ones who were the cause of this upheaval. The Chronos (among whom were Joan of Arc, the Emperor Nero, Napoleon Bonaparte, Herman Cortez, Francis Drake, and dozens of other figures from around the world) seemed to not be who they were known to be. Many seemingly had very little knowledge of their former lives, but had discovered a way of regaining their memories- by stealing the memories of those around them. People attempted to start avoiding them, but the damage had already been done.

One of these Chronos, who is merely known as the Iron Star, was not afraid to exploit this "gift", using the individuals whose memories he stole to build up a substantial force, allowing him to topple the regional government of the Balkan Union of Nations, effectively becoming a international power immediately after they were freed. Several other Chronos flocked to this individual's service, bringing with them their knowledge, skills and leadership to aid in the Iron Star's motives, while others started to aid the Anarchists or the regional powers against the Iron Star/each other.

This is where we come in. You see, while most other facilities were stormed and decimated, our small Facility on the Studies of Quantum and Astral Mechanics was overlooked due to us being one of the few non-government facilities still having been in operation. We would have been content with continuing to mind our own business, until he appeared at our facility.

23 hours ago, Nikola Tesla walked into our facility, without any memories other than his name, but still possessing of the raw genius he had had. After securing him in a top security room, the arguments started about what to do with him. We have been arguing since then, unable to decide on a plan. Some want to utilize his genius to help understand where the Chronos came from or how to perchance stop the Iron Star or the anarchists from starting world war four. Others wished to experiment on him without his consent for the same purpose, while others simply wish to send him away, risking us to lose our only chance at understanding this phenomena or how to save the world.

We may not know what to do with this once in a lifetime opportunity, but there is one thing we all know- Time is running out.

Brief Setting Explanation

So, this SB is set somewhere between our present day and before the invent flying cars or functional artificial intelligence (thus before 2100, essentially) The world is no longer how it is today.

World War Three occurred twenty years before the start of this SB, basically being a combination of the South China Sea War, the Korean War and the 2nd Russian Aggression into Finland and the Baltic States. The war lasted for five years (thus until fifteen years ago), crumbling most nations' economies, and forcing the world to adopt regional governments and economies (examples are like the Balkan Union of Nations, the Siberian Entente, and the Central American Co-economic Region)

The regions worked fine until the Chronos appeared (the oldest being from 3000 BCE, aka Hammurabi, and the newest being from the Second World War, aka Winston Churchill) across the globe, memory-less and confused. The regions immediately attempted to round them up quietly, but the events above prove they failed.

The FSQAM, aka our facility, was one of those researching, among other things, the possibility of time travel and hyperlight speed travel to explore our the solar system.

(Note, I am leaving this not as detailed as my other SBs' lore 1. Because world-building is a thing, 2. Because it is set in the future and I am not prophet, and 3. The real-life kind of kept causing me to rewrite this or lose previously written info)

Characters

The cast will be relatively tight (we are a small facility), but the characters will not just be researchers... I have also added spots for those who serve the Iron Star ;-) Also, Npcs are allowed, as per the usual.
The Researchers are those who work at the FSQAM (obviously) Note, there are no inherent "good" or "bad" guys, but this faction is for if you wish to challenge your or other individuals' moral compass (the reason for this will be discussed in the DT)
The Star Legion serves the Iron Star. They might have been thieved of their memories and be an obedient and loyal servant, or have willing joined for whatever reason (the reason is up to your imaginations)
The Anarchists faction will not be available (at the moment :D)
Note, the Chronos are unavailable to be PCs, but you may add them to the Chronos Npc list if you wish (plus current status/whereabouts)
