Hey ppl. I need some help in regards to supplimentary texts im ment to have for Adv. english. The best ones would be those most easily related to my prescribed text The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. I have to have 3 of them each from a different media outlet, 1 movie, 1 book, 1 song etc. Im doing: The Incredible Journey of Mary Bryant (miniseries)...and I just thought of this right now, omg im excited: Lord of the Flies (movie) and thats all I have right now. Choosing a book is so hard because there are so many. I want to do American Gods (Neil Gaiman) but Im not sure about wether its appropriate in this context.

Got any ideas???

First of all, some people have not GONE to high school, so we're not clear about your assignment. Please be a lot more clear, and we'll try to help you.

What is a supplementary text?

Why are you talking about Huckleberry Finn and then Lord of the Flies? They are completely different books... do you have to do all of them?

Finding a song? What do you mean? So you have to find a song related to the book, or a song about the book?

A supplemetary text can be anything, as long as its relevant to the Area of Study, which in this instance is Physical Journey. I need to find three texts (text can refer to anything; a pic, a movie, a song etc) related to Physical Journey. Huckleberry Finn is our main text; his physical journey was going down the river on the raft.

Anyway I've already chosen: The Incredible Journey of Mary Bryant, and the movie The Lord of the Flies now I need a book, a book related to Physical Journey.
Thats all.
Just one book.
Suggestions would be vastly appreciated.

So... a physical journey is basically traveling somewhere else? And you need one book about traveling?

Does it need to be a humaniod traveling? Can it be an animal?

If so, then there's The Incredible Journey by Sheila Burnford.

If not, there's Sojourn by R.A. Salvatore.

No it doesnt have to be human. An example would be the Wind in the Willows. It doesnt have to be some major form of travelling, for example a journey could be; you taking a walk around the block. the definition of Physical Journeys is; going from point A to point B.

I'll be checking those books out, thanks Duskglimmer.

I would suggest Kafka's "Metamorphosis," since that type of "physical journey" begins to take you in a slightly different path. Instead of simply the-body-in-motion, you have motion-in-the-body. A nice kind of twist to begin looking at the other stories.

I agree with Dusky. The Incredible Journey is an awesome story. Which one came first, do you think? 101 Dalmations (the book, mind you!) or that story? Hmm...

You might know The Incredible Journey better as the movie "Homeward Bound."

There are those who say that life is like a book, with chapters for each event in your life and a limited number of pages on which you can spend your time. But I prefer to think that a book is like a life, particularly a good one, which is well to worth staying up all night to finish.
