I'm doing a study on how art is used to protest.

I need to find examples of cases where art activists have taken something normal and turned it into something scary, taking advantage of the "fear factor" to make people understand what they're fighting for.

A good example is when people take Ronald MacDonald and turn him into something from a horror movie (not that Ronald isn't already that).

I really only need pictures; big news stories and all that are not needed. There just has to be enough information for me to reference it in a bibliography.

Thanks, everyone!
I bought a cactus. A week later it died. I got depressed because I thought Damn, I am less nurturing than a desert.

I don't know if this is what you mean, but maybe take a look at some of the political cartoons Dr. Suess did?- some of then are kinda made into monsters, or well his style, you know. Maybe this isn't what you mean.

There's a commercial that fights against coke bottles and stuff from around the super bowl time. It's a public awareness message that could be used.

Street art is really good at this.
