I need help from some any and all highly experienced authors or those who know any! Career project requires these questions to be answered! Please help!!!!!
I know/have an idea how to answer some of these questions! But most are giving me trouble.

What is the proper dress and etiquette for this job?

Like what would you wear when going to a publisher??!?!

What kinds of problems do you solve on the job?
What skills do you need to solve these problems?

I know about Writers block, what else?

What kind of computer skills do you need to perform your job?

What kind of computer skills do you need to perform your job?

Microsoft Word of course, and email, right?
Am I missing anything?

Do you ever have to work in teams on your job?  How so?

I have never heard of two authors working on one project, how would that work?

How is math important to your job?  What type of math skills do you use?

Do we even use math when writing?

What types of reading do you use on the job?

What kind of reading is used for researching and self editing?

Was there a specific degree or job training you needed to complete in order to get this job?  If so, what?

What level of education do you need for this job?

What would authors get a degree in?


What is a typical day like for you?

What would a normal day be like mid-project?

This is not the only reason I'm here, but I seriously need help!
This is my priority right now.

Before I start, I'd just like to mention that you might want to consider retitling this thread. Chatspeak is really unprofessional, and something a bit more concise, like "Need help with Career Project questions", will work just as well while making people more likely to read the thread.

That said, unless you're planning on being a journalist, Career Project and other such sites are the wrong places to start. Your best bet would be to write stories and submit them to the relevant publications for consideration, so you can build up your publication credentials.

Duotrope is a great site for finding the best markets for stories you have written or plan to write. Best of all, it's free to use and lists a lot of publishers that are willing to give new authors a chance to get into the world of publication.

I'd recommend starting with non- or low-paying markets, as that will give you a better chance of being published, which in turn will help build up your publication credentials. The more stories you have published, the more willing the higher paying markets will be to buy your stories from you, since you will have shown them that your work sells.

Be prepared to receive a lot of rejections, and also be sure to read and follow the submission guidelines for each publisher.
