Flight of ideas or subjective experience that thoughts are racing I'm not 100% sure what this means. If anyone could clarify, that would be super nice!

This is one I may try to include in the story:
[*]Attention is easily drawn to unimportant or irrelevant items

So basically the MC has a Manic Episode: A manic episode is not a disorder in and of itself, but rather is a part of a type of bipolar disorder.

Well, I've done some research to help and this is what I found out:
Bipolar disorder used to be called ‘manic depression’. As the older name suggests, someone with bipolar disorder will have severe mood swings. These usually last several weeks or months and are far beyond what most of us experience. They are:
Low or 'depressive' - feelings of intense depression and despair
High or 'manic' - feelings of extreme happiness and elation
Mixed for example, depressed mood with the restlessness and overactivity of a manic episode .

This also includes:
Bipolar 1:
•There has been at least one high or manic episode, which has lasted for longer than one week.
•Some people with Bipolar 1 will have only manic episodes, although most will also have periods of depression.
•Untreated, manic episodes generally last 3 to 6 months.
•Depressive episodes last rather longer - 6 to 12 months without treatment.

Bipolar 2:
•There has been more than one episode of severe depression, but only mild manic episodes – these are these are called ‘hypomania’.

So, as you can see, some of those Manic Episodes can be really bad.
Here are a way of telling:
1.Make note of any changes in sleeping patterns, especially if your friend or loved one has lots of energy on just a few hours of sleep.

2.Is he restlessly searching for ways to work off extra energy? Washing the car every day? Make note of this manic behavior.

3.Be alert to increased talkativeness. If her mouth runneth over, this could be another symptom, especially if the talk seems pressured.

Hope this has helped.
