She's grown used to it. Her parents claim she has trauma from witnessing a terrible accident at the age of ten, but her memory turns murky earlier than that.

When she starts college, Caitlin makes friends and tries to forget her strangely empty childhood. One night into the second week of school, she wakes up screaming. Confused, she stares at her alarm clock until she can fully read the numbers. Was that a dream? Or a nightmare? It's been so long, she couldn't tell the difference anymore.

At a reading club later that week, a classmate introduces themselves before revealing that they had already met, even though she had been homeschooled her entire life. That night, she has a clear dream about them playing together as kids.

After the next dream, she has many, many questions, and few seem to be willing to part with the answers. Caitlin will have to find someone that will.

Reflection: Meant to update this sooner, but I got too busy. I ended up writing a lot on the 4th to still get my word count up, but today was a pleasant surprise as well. I've been having a lot of fun just putting words to paper and trying to toss random things at my main character. It's been a loooong time since I wrote anything, so I am just trying to take it one day at a time and not force myself to write at times I'm too tired to try.

Reflection: Well, this was a busy, busy time. I didn't think that I would even have much time to be able to write, but I ended up writing pretty late every night, which did cut into my sleeping time, but that period between 9:30 to 10:30 was used solely for writing quite often. I have been really having fun with my writing! ^^

I am certainly over the goal I set for myself -- writing more than I had for any other NaNo, which was about 15k in total. And I have still stuck to the word count par daily, and so I hit 25k! Which feels unreal. I think one thing that has kept me going is even when I'm tired, I've convinced myself that there's time for me to still be able to write, and I kind of get into these rolls at the specific time of 9/10 pm. Although then I wake up tired the next morning for work xD

I admittedly am throwing a few things at my main character, curious to see what'll stick if I can finish the first draft and eventually edit it. I am still having a lot of fun!

I made it through my three straight weeks of work (M-F) with still being on pace to hit 50k! I didn't think I would get this far, honestly. I don't see myself being so busy that I'll lose track of words this next week as it's break (which I've been desperate for), but if it happens, it happens. I am so delighted by how much I've been able to write this November (2x as much as any other NaNo project I've ever done). Although some part of me absolutely wants to hit 50k like now xD Slow and steady has worked well for me so far. Last ten days here we go!

Whew. This week was jam-packed with visiting families, getting food and going outside, and feeling tired from being in the sun all day. Day 23 decided to be the day I write 4k+ in about three hours, which was absolutely wild to work through, and now I'm super close to 50k with a few days left. I am definitely growing a bit weary from staring at my google doc every day, but it's motivating to see the words go up bit by bit. But I only have 4k left, so whoop. I hope everyone is doing good in their NaNos !

So, I made it!? Four days early!? I will be trying my best to figure out a short little end to it, even if it's mostly {something happens here} and "THE END".

I have no idea if Dreamless makes any sense in its current form, but I can say that I completed NaNo for the first time ever and I truly am so grateful I got the chance to try this year. Thank you to anyone who responded to this thread!

I figured I could put daily updates for the last couple of days since I hit 50k c:

I attended a writing for my local NaNo section last night and got all the words done in a couple sprints! It's been soooo much fun to have nightly sprint sessions on Discord with everyone and be able to meet in person a couple of times this month. ^^

I still haven't quite reached the ending of the book -- I'm adding in some explanation parts from characters finally having that *major* conversation, but that might be changed later and sprinkled in the actual book storyline rather just right at the end.

I have basically been pantsing a large amount of this novel, since the original idea was changed so much, but I think it's worked well for me so far.
