Wanted to revisit an old story. Created a new plot instead. And here we are.

Bestowed with a chance to live and a new name, Layal becomes a war general's secret weapon.


Set in the aftermath of an invasion and a looming attack, Sea Foam follows the tribulations of Layal, a young woman who evaded death by the skin of her teeth, as she comes to realize that she has been brainwashed, and has to decide where her loyalty lies. Everything Was A Lie (TM).

Goal: 50,000 words by 30 November.

I made a pinterest page for it two weeks ago, but really all I care about is that this story makes me picture shades of teal and aquamarine, with bursts of gold.

There's like
- a focus on friendships
- a dysfunctional family
- also evil family dynasty
- everyone is default bi
- witchy arab vibes
- sea appreciation
- a cat named after the GOAT of arab romance poets

This isn't a coming of age story so I have more free reign. Possibly new adult, 100% fantasy.

Oh and I'm 1862 words in! Will try to get more done after I'm finished with work.

I actually have time to put in another sprint but I want to wake up early tomorrow and do a good session there!

I'm a bit behind. Stuck on how to introduce two important characters. I think I'll just skip to when they're already there and fix it in post.

Plotting a bit more while I'm at work. Thinking of my side characters' internal struggles and relationships. Gah.

Update:

Keeping with the daily count! My favourite person to write is a prisoner who tried to kidnap the Amirah (the sheikh's daughter). He becomes a large part of the plot and I'm excited to develop his relationship with Layla, they become such good friends. She needs that ;-;

Another favourite is a sage and eccentric person who my MC only knows as The Librarian. They're such a mysterious character and I'm finding that writing their dialogue gives me pause to enter their mind. I'm picturing them as enby and ace (my second ace-spec character, the other one being the prisoner/kidnapper, who is aro).


This nano I'm discovering that I'm
a) capable of whipping up 700 words in 20 minutes
b) gayer than I thought
