An Apocalypse Story

(very much a working title)

Synopsis: During an apocalypse, an infected girl named Hally Fields journeys across the United States to see her family one last time before her undeniable fate.

(Larger) Summary: Hally Fields is a 13-year-old girl living during a apocalypse, a deadly zombie-making virus sweeping the United States, and likely soon the world. Her family is currently in Oregon, taking shelter inside of a military base with other survivors. Hally, however, first becomes infected with the virus in West Virginia. Knowing she is doomed to die, Hally becomes determined to see her family one last time and make amends with them... even if that means crossing the country.

Along the way, Hally makes allies in a young couple and a band of survivors, though she also is hunted by a team of government scientists struggling to find a cure for the virus and looking for test subjects. Hally also will have to deal with the victims of the virus--aggressive heathens who have lost their minds and are slowly decomposing--while also coming to grips with what she will become.

There are those who say that life is like a book, with chapters for each event in your life and a limited number of pages on which you can spend your time. But I prefer to think that a book is like a life, particularly a good one, which is well to worth staying up all night to finish.
